33-1 TREBLE AS DAQMAN LANDS THREE OUT OF THREE: Daqman, who just missed an 83-1 big-race double on Sunday, made no mistake with a near 33-1 treble yesterday when all three of his selections won across the cards at Pontefract and Windsor, included an odds-against nap. A point win treble would have produced 32.68 profit!

✔️ WON 7-4 SISKANY (nap)
✔️ WON 5-2 WEMYSS POINT
✔️ WON 5-2 MAJOR VALENTINE

THREE WINNING NAPS OUT OF FOUR WITH 7-4 STRIKE: Siskany was Daqman’s third winning nap out of four, following strikes on Friday and Saturday, which included his first supernap of the season:

✔️ WON 4-5 TASFEEQ (Friday)
✔️ WON 1-2 BROOME (Saturday supernap)
✔️ WON 7-4 SISKANY (Monday)

LAYS LOGIC TO OPPOSE THE 1,000 GUINEAS FAVOURITE: Daqman’s looking for long-shots this week in the Newmarket Guineas but first he applies some Lays Logic to the odds that are on offer about the 1,000 favourite, and concludes that she’s a present for the layers. It’s 45 years since such once-raced juvenile form was translated to Classic success.

SHE’S A PRESENT FOR THE LAYERS

The layers’ Santa Claus. Santa Barbara is no gift to backers at 7-4 favourite for the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket on May 2.

The Camelot filly will try to win Aidan O’Brien his fifth 1,000 in six years, interrupted only by Richard Hannon with Billesden Brook in 2018.

The form provenance she takes to Newmarket is virtually nil. In fact, she ran and won just the once as a two-year-old, and has missed all the trials.

Santa Barbara’s one run, one win (main picture above), was a form-book car crash. The runner-up lost twice in the autumn and started the year with further defeat in a Navan maiden in March. The third was down the field in a Gowran maiden earlier this month.

Even the trainer’s comments are nondescript: ‘She’s a mile and a quarter filly with a mile and a half possible but showing a lot of pace so we go for the Guineas.

‘You’d be more confident if she’d had more racing at two. She’s going to learn a lot from racing.’

Aidan’s previous winners learned a lot from racing, but well before the Guineas! Homecoming Queen ran 11 times at two; Hermosa and Love each seven timers; Minding five, Virginia Waters four and Winter three.

The last five 1,000 winners of the 1,000 went to post at Newmarket rated 120, 106, 115, 110, 111.

Santa Barbara is on 91 with the Racing Post; officially not yet worth a rating but with the second home in her Navan maiden now on 87 after three placed efforts.

The last to take the 1,000 Guineas when a once-raced winner as a two-year-old was Flying Water in 1976, trained Angel Penna for Daniel Wildenstein and ridden Yves Saint-Martin.

But she flew over to Newmarket for the Nell Gwyn Stakes trial over the Rowley Mile course in the April and won it by three lengths.

The year before, Irish trainer Stuart Murless won with the grey Nocturnal Spree after just one run as a two-year-old, finishing only third.

She won a minor race as a three-year-old before taking the 1975 running of the 1,000 Guineas under Johnny Roe. Her career in both seasons was cut short by injury problems.

TOMORROW: See how they won; the improvers.

YOU’VE GOT TO HAND IT TO SPOOF

⭕ 1.45 Epsom (5f) Dark Shot is very hard to win with as his 3-49 (13 seconds) turf record suggests; he’s played bridesmaid three times at Epsom: form figures there 2022.

Duke Of Firenze fans who expect to see him come hurtling down the hill should be warned that the CD by his name was almost EIGHT years ago.

Recon Mission has won once in his last 19 starts. But Spoof improved a stone in a late hat-trick last summer, and his stable is in form.

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE value 5 Spoof

⭕ 2.15 Epsom (Blue Riband Trial) John Gosden and Frankie Dettori 4, and Aidan O’Brien 1 (when Gosden didn’t have a runner). That’s the last five years up to 2019.

Word has it that Uncle Bryn will put the new Team Gosden – John and Thady – back in the driving seat. He’s won as he pleased so far and is 21.0 on BETDAQ Sportsbook for the Derby, around evens today.

O’Brien has Hector De Maris hooded first time, looking exposed, beaten in a nursery but eventually scoring in heavy ground. The big horse will need 1m 4f.

Another with some size about him is Star Caliber (by Golden Horn).

Pythagoras won the Silver Tankard at Pontefract so well that his rating shot up higher than any of these at 98 but his Listed penalty means that he gives 3lb all round.

Wirko represents Charlie Appleby, who followed up four Craven meeting winners with the impressive Hurricane Lane at Newbury

⭕ 2.50 Epsom (City And Suburban) Cambridgeshire third in 2019, Good Birthday had a poor year last year but wasn’t far off in that race again and got his weight down 12lb for this season.

Has won first run back before now and Andrew Balding, who has started on a high, has won two of the last five City And Subs at decent prices and has booked Silvestre De Sousa to ride close to his bodyweight.

Harrovian (Frankie Dettori) is 3-6 on a sound surface over 1m 2f but has to give 15lb to Good Birthday

BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE value 8.0 Good Birthday

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
