BOTH ENDS OF THE BETDAQ MARKET: Short shots from his Fortune Cookies and Supernap and long shots from his reading of the big handicap stats and form. That’s the promise of Daqman in Goodwood week.

🗓️ TODAY: Fortune Cookies and Goodwood Cup day.
🗓️ TOMORROW: the Sussex Stakes.

GOLIATH HOPS INTO COOKIES

He has screws in his fetlock and a string halt that has him hiking a hind leg at walking pace, but Goliath caught them on the hop in a sensational 25-1 King George strike over Bluestocking, who now looks a good thing for the Yorkshire Oaks.

So it is that FORTUNE COOKIES steps up to 12, among them Big Evs running at Goodwood on Friday.

116 BEDTIME STORY (Aidan O’Brien) Moyglare, Curragh, September 15
113 BIG EVS (Michael Appleby) King George, Goodwood, Friday
117 BLUESTOCKING (Ralph Beckett), Yorkshire Oaks, August 22
111 ELITE STATUS (Karl Burke) Haydock Sprint Cup, September 7
112 GOLIATH (Francis-Henri Graffard) newcomer to the list.
110 JAMES’S DELIGHT (Clive Cox) Phoenix Sprint, Curragh, August 10; Haydock Sprint, September 7
111 LAKE FOREST (William Haggas) Phoenix Sprint, Curragh, August 10
120 LOOK DE VEGA (Carlos and Yann Lerner) Arc De Triomphe, October 6
116 PORTA FORTUNA (Donnacha O’Brien) Matron Stakes, Leopardstown, Sept 14
118 ROSALLION (Richard Hannon) Sussex Stakes, Goodwood, Wednesday (Tuesday update: announced a non runner due to a respiratory problem)
116 SOSIE (Andre Fabre) Arc De Triomphe, Longchamp, October 6
106 UXMAL (Joseph O’Brien) Irish St Leger, Curragh, September 15

Score so far: 5-8. Winners: Bedtime Story WON 1-16, Sosie WON 100-30, City Of Troy WON 1-4, James’s Delight WON 33-10, Rosallion WON 5-2. Profit 128.91pts to 20pt level stakes.

TAKE HEART IN THE CUP

⭕ 1.50 Goodwood (Chesterfield Cup) STATS: Gates 14 and 16 (twice) were among five out of eight double-figure stalls to win this; none was older than five, going way back.

Take Heart was drawn wide at York, which ruined his chances behind Enfjaar: he’s now 7lb better off with that one and drawn 18 to the favourite’s 13.

Dual Identity was a length behind Take Heart; not clear run two out; short of room near finish. Drawn low in 3 today and that may equalise them.

Team Johnston is always in the picture in this race (4 wins in the decade) and Wadacre Gomez (14) has scored 2-3 on AW, plus a fourth to Enfjaar, getting 5lb; he’s now in receipt of 12lb but has not yet transferred his good form to turf.

Enfjaar’s punishing rise means he also gives 11lb instead of 6lb to Tony Montana (12), who kept on well behind him, third in the John Smith’s Cup.

BETDAQ value: 10.5 Tony Montana, 16.5 Take Heart

KYPRIOS KING OF STAYERS

⭕ 3.35 Goodwood (Goodwood Cup) Kyprios (pictured below) and Trueshan have both won this; both are in winning form.

But Trueshan had to drop to Listed level to score for the first time since the Cadran (2m 4f) in September, whereas all trips and all ground seems to come alike to Kyprios, winning from 1m 6f to 2m 4f, from very soft to good to firm.

Team Gosden played the same tune four years running in this with Stradivarius (2017 to 2020) and are hopeful Sweet William can flower.

He won the Summer Handicap (2023) here on heavy and the Henry II at Sandown in May on soft; but, even granted his ground, he would have to turn around the form with Trueshan, Coltrane and Kyprios consecutively in three defeats from his last five starts.

Stablemate Gregory trailed Kyprios 44 lengths in the Ascot Gold Cup and, even if today’s trip suits better, it also holds no fears for Kyprios.

JUNGLE DRUMS FOR JASON

⭕ 4.10 Goodwood Lord Riddiford has won this sprint three seasons on the trot, or rather at a sustained gallop not for the faint-hearted.

Hollie Doyle, who was on board for the first leg of the hat-trick, is back for her own personal double on him.

He’s won in gates 2, 7 and 15; low, middle, high – none could stall him – and he’s back in 2 today for Hollie.

Not once was he favourite in the three-year-romp, nor had a favourite won previously.

These Goodwood dashes are often about big odds and Jason Hart, and Jm Jungle has dropped to a winning mark, having won for Hart here at Goodwood at this meeting last year. This is up a grade but he’s clearly been laid out for this.

Equilateral, same age as Lord Riddiford, is back to form and a strong contender on the other side of the draw in 13 for Jamie Spencer, often the head waiter, who won on him at York last August.

Third, only half a length back, was Jm Jungle, still getting 15lb as he was that day.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 7.2 Jm Jungle, 14 Equilateral
