DAQMAN’S GOODWOOD CUP SUPERNAP: Daqman IS ready to crown a new Cup star with a supernap at Goodwood today and finds bull’s-eye bets at 10.0, 23.0 and 101.0.

TOMORROW: The Sussex Stakes and more bull’s-eye bets to win 50 points in the handicaps.

23.0 OAK IS BETDAQ VALUE

⭕ 1.20 Goodwood (Chesterfield Cup): STATS: Seven out of 10 winners are from double-figure stalls taking wide berths (like Take Heart from 18 last year) or switched left in the straight.

Low numbers like Masoun (1), Jolly Jack Tar (3), Ancient Rome (from 5 but won from 16 in 2023) and Tony Montana (6) are likely to get buried unless dropped out early, and front runners Bolster and Grey Cuban look vulnerable to the crush in the later stages.

You need one among lightly-raced sorts with potential: Castle Cove, Defiance, Shadow Dance and Westridge.

Defiance (17), who spent last year in the Pattern, second in the Blue Riband Derby Trial, ran well returned to Epsom in his first handicap, sole start this year after being gelded. BETDAQ 7.7 taken.

In the next stall is English Oak (18), Buckingham Palace hero last year but related to winners over today’s trip and in good heart at Hamilton 12 days ago. BETDAQ 23.0.

JONQUIL TO BLOOM IN LENNOX

⭕ 2.30 Goodwood (Lennox Stakes): Kinross has won the Lennox twice before (race record 1213) but was five lengths down, third behind Audience, last year.

Greenham winner Jonquil (BETDAQ 6.5), who was runner-up to Henri Matisse in the French 2,000 Guineas, is from the Andrew Balding yard which beat Kinross in this with another three-year-old, Sandrine, in 2022.

Sandrine lined up on her day with a 108 rating; Jonquil can boast 115, which puts him on top of the older horses but with Noble Champion a speculative pound in front after his Jersey Stakes strike at Royal Ascot.

However, the fancied horses didn’t run to form in the Jersey, the winner going into the race with 95, hence ‘speculative’ that the Greenham seventh should emerge with 116.

ILLINOIS THE YOUNG BLOOD

⭕ 3.05 Goodwood (Goodwood Cup): Big Orange, Stradivarius and Kyprios shared eight of the last 10!

Nearest to the stars of yesterday on form are Trueshan (winner in 2021 though nine now) and Sweet William, runner-up to Kyprios last year but beat Trueshan on the soft in the Doncaster Cup.

Same old same old; surely it’s time for a fresh face. Runner-up in the St Leger last year and the Ascot Gold Cup in June, Illinois (BETDAQ 2.88) looks spot on for today’s 2m, never out of the first three in 10 consecutive Pattern races.

Scandinavia looks more like a Leger horse this year and Cup candidate next, but Stradivarius started winning this at three after he took the Queens Vase, similar trip to the Bahrain Trophy that’s just put this latest O’Brien three-year-old stayer into the front line.

Sunway, third to Jan Brueghel and Illinois in the 2024 St Leger, is interesting, stepped up in trip by David Menuisier who, however, is still struggling for form.

JAKAJARO RELIES ON JAMIE

⭕ 3.45 Goodwood: Jakajaro has dropped down the handicap and down to 5f since moving from Ireland to an English sprint specialist, Robert Cowell.

He looks just the type to motor up the hill down the near-side flank, held for a finish by Jamie Spencer, renowned for just such a challenge at Goodwood, and looking to make up for his first ride on the four-year-old, when denied a clear run at Ascot (6th) the last day and he should turn around placings with Redorange (4th).

Another run down the near side of a centre had earlier produced a Royal Ascot strike for Adrestia under Oisin Murphy, who retains the ride.

But Redorange was beaten only a length that day (had to be switched) and is 3lb better off.

The three form principals are all high numbered in adjacent stalls: Redorange 18, Adrestia 19 and Jakajaro 20.

While they are watching each other over this helter-skelter 5f, there could be a far-rail threat: it will be interesting to see how Nimitz (out of 5) gets on, aptly named by U S Navy Flag and nine times a winner in Sweden over further.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 6.5 Redorange, 7.3 Adrestia, 10 Jakajaro. Place 7.8 (four places) 101.00 to win Nimitz.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
