OPPOSE FAV AND BE THANKFUL

⭕ 12.53 Lingfield A jumps card at Lingfield today but the opening the bumper is on the all-weather.

Restandbethankful, winner by a head on debut at Perth looks vulnerable under his resulting penalty. It didn’t look the strongest race at the time and the form hasn’t worked out well subsequently either.

It takes a good horse to defy a penalty in bumpers and I’m not sure this is the case here.

There is also serious cause for concern about the form of the Olly Murphy stable who are two wins from their last 48 runners and the last four favourites from the yard have all been beaten.

If you are backing the favourite here, then your hopes will primarily be based around it being such a weak contest but there are a couple of interesting debutants that could easily pop up.

The value play for me though is in the BETDAQ Betting Exchange place market with Black Panther who showed promise on debut on the all-weather at Newcastle when third to Miss Lamb and should be suited by the return to the artificial surface.

You have to discount his subsequent run at Bangor on soft ground where he was a big drifter in the market and ran no race at all but the ground was pretty chewed up that day by the time the bumper was run and we can always excuse a horse for one poor effort.

On the positive side his trainer Martin Keighley has sent out two winners from his last nine runners.

A STAR IS BORN

⭕ 1.15 Huntingdon An inauspicious start to the meeting with a long odds-on favourite in the opener and then a match in the second which does at least look competitive.

The nap on the card though looks to be Somekindofstar who won’t need to be a superstar to win this handicap chase.

The Lucy Wadham trained runner is the clear form pick after his course fifth last time out over hurdles and should have too much for these on his chase debut.

The stable had a nice winner with The White Mouse at Wincanton over the weekend and can strike again here in a contest that won’t take a lot of winning. Market rival Ratoute Yutty became disappoint when trained by Dan Skelton and has now switched to Caroline Fryer.

WINNING WITH WINDSOR

⭕ 2.23 Lingfield Back on the turf for this one and Mount Windsor’s case looks compelling.

The Chris Gordon trained five-year-old has been shoved up 2lb by the handicapper after his encouraging reappearance at Uttoxeter last month where he finished a close second to The Garrison.

A dual bumper winner, he can gain a deserved first success over timber.

Imphal hasn’t shown too much in his two starts over hurdles but has attracted support in the market.

He travelled well over course, distance and ground last time out but was beaten 15 lengths in a maiden hurdle and his starting handicap mark looks high enough to me.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
