TOUCH WOOD FOR NAP
⭕ 3.30 Leicester Touchwood has been nibbled at in the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market and it’s easy to see why.
Trainer Ruth Carr is in good form with four winners in the last fortnight and teen sensation Billy Loughnane is worth his weight in gold plus his 3lb allowance!
This is also Touchwood’s ground – he was last of 15 three starts ago at Ripon when it was soft but has run with much more credit since with close up thirds at Musselburgh and Ayr on good ground and the probable good to firm today should suit even more.
Ahead of him in the morning market were both Ernie’s Valentine and Royal Musketeer but both have question marks against their chances of an overdue return to the winners’ enclosure.
They are represented by the Cole and Hollinshead stables respectively who have both failed to land a winner in the last 14 days.
At bigger odds Maxi Boy obviously catches the eye with Oisin Murphy aboard. The six-year-old is attracting support – suggesting the 630 day absence won’t prove a problem but again the stable form is a worry with the yard 0-18.
KESTREL VULNERABLE TO DARK HORSE
⭕ 7.00 Lingfield Bresson ran no sort of race for me last night and Team Gosden have the hot favourite here with Dark Kestrel who bids to follow up on his Doncaster success last month.
He looked to have come on leaps and bounds for his first run of the year leaving last year’s two races well behind. A starting handicap mark of 80 looks fair enough given how progressive he looks.
However he has a couple of more experienced rivals to take on and his price does look skinny at a shade of odds on.
Kessaar Power struggled from a wide draw at Chester last time out and can’t be ruled out on that run alone but a bigger danger could come from Lulworth Cove who ran a cracker at Haydock when second to the bang in form Radio Goo Goo who has since gone on to complete a hat-trick.
⭕ 7.20 Wetherby Harriet’s Angel has fared well with her stall seven here – even in small field the draw can’t be underestimated on what remains one of the strongest bias course/distance combination in the country.
She has improved with each start and is preferred to Lilikoi who has become a little disappointing.
