STAR FLOATS WINNER IN THREE: Daqman’s weekday staking plan kept him afloat yesterday thanks to Fitwood Star (WON 5-2) at Wolverhampton from three selections. Today three more selections including a nap at Lingfield.
EIGHT IN SANDOWN’S BIG RACE: First Daqman checks out the eight left in Saturday’s Tingle Creek Chase at Sandown. TOMORROW: Fortune Cookies update.
TINGLING WITH TOP TALENT
⭕ 2.25 Sandown, Saturday (Tingle Creek Chase) Moscow Flyer, Kauto Star, Altior, Sprinter Sacre and Politologue (twice) are among past winners of the Tingle Creek.
The level is high. Two acceptors for Saturday have a similar rating to Altior when he won it off 175 in 2018. Both are trained by Willie Mullins, so who are these modern Altiors?
176 Chacun Pour Soi Outstanding two-miler. Never out of the frame in 10 chases between winning the Punchestown Ryanair and the Champion Chase there in two years of seven strikes in all, but beaten in the Champion Chase at Cheltenham after veering off a line (Willie Mullins).
174 Allaho Only seven, two years younger than his stablemate Chacun Pour Soi; was beaten more than five lengths by him in the Punchestown Champion Chase, dropping down to 2m after winning over 2m 4f at Thurles and in the Ryanair at Cheltenham (Willie Mullins).
168 Nube Negra Came to fame when beating Altior at Kempton (2020) before being placed in two Champion Chases, at Cheltenham and Punchestown. Reappearance defeat of Politologue by six lengths back at Cheltenham in November (Dan Skelton).
167 Greaneteen Runner-up to Politologue in this last year and beat Altior over the same Sandown CD in April. Only fourth in the Champion Chase and ran too keenly the last day on his appearance at Exeter (Paul Nicholls).
158 Defi Du Seuil He’s 2-2 at Sandown including this race in 2019 but he’s been out of form at Cheltenham and Ascot since, dropping from a peak rating of 170 (Philip Hobbs)
154 Hitman The new kid, only five, at the Nicholls yard. Placed in five out of six chases but fell here over further in the Scilly Isles Chase as a novice. Seeming return to form at Exeter early November, beaten only a length in the Haldon Gold Cup, with stablemate Greaneteen only fourth (Paul Nicholls)
153 Captain Guinness Came to prominence with big-field beginners’ chase victory at Punchestown last December on heavy. Well beaten by Shishkin in the Arkle but back to form in a Grade 3 at Naas a month back (Henry De Bromhead)
149 Cheddleton Back-to-back chase wins a year ago put him up to today’s mark and into better company but he struggled in the Kingmaker at Warwick in the Spring and the Graduation at Carlisle early last month, third in each (Jennie Candlish)
ANOTHER FOR THE CRISFORDS
⭕ 1.10 Lingfield It’s a Tuesday mix of three surfaces from three tracks today with grass, Tapeta and Polytrack. This one mile maiden at Lingfield presents a good opportunity for Kaasirr to lose his maiden tag and continue the excellent recent strike rate of Simon and Ed Crisford who have had three winners from their last six runners.
Kaasirr built upon a modest debut effort at Haydock to finish a head second to Al Nafir next time out at Kempton in what looked a race far better than the official class 5. The other horses in the frame were Charlie Appleby and Sir Michael Stoute inmates so the chances are that the form will prove well above average.
There’s every chance that Kaasirr will improve again and should prove too strong for the rather exposed Unilateralism who switches back to maiden company after a good run in a Kempton nursery last time out.
The William Haggas trained King Of Ice is quite prominent in the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE market but is quite hard to assess having shown promise in two Newmarket starts when sixth on both occasions but is making his all-weather debut today.
HE’S OH SO RAPID
⭕ 4.45 Newcastle Oso Rapido is in a rich vein of form this year and goes in search of a fourth win. Against a few disappointing sorts he is taken to overcome another 4lb hike in the weights.
He won over six furlongs here last time and based on that effort the step up a furlong looks a good move – he was a seven furlong winner at Musselburgh earlier in the season.
Maywake has form figures that immediately make you want to head to the LAY column on BETDAQ – 223222. On closer inspection though he hasn’t done too much wrong and is another that could be suited by the step up in trip and is preferred to Lead Story who is up 2lb for a nose success here two months ago.
PENNY DROPS WITH MAGGIE
⭕ 7.15 Newcastle It might be worth taking on the likely favourite Alphonse Le Grande with Maggie’s Joy.
Alphonse Le Grande isn’t one I’d be taking too short a price about, despite dropping again in class. He’s yet to win in six starts and the stable are a little quiet.
Maggie’s Joy can keep the prize in the north. She ran a decent race at Nottingham last time out when fifth and looked like the penny was finally starting to drop. This is a weaker contest and hopefully the first time cheekpieces will also be a positive.
DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 10 points)
BET 4.7pts win (nap) KAASIRR (1.10 Lingfield)
BET 4.5pts win OSO RAPIDO (4.45 Newcastle)
BET 2.2pts win MAGGIE’S JOY (7.15 Newcastle)
What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
