⭕ 1.00 Lingfield The good news is that Lingfield goes ahead – the bad news is that there are 18 non runners so far on the card at the time of writing.
Surprisingly three of those are in the opening bumper which is run on the all-weather track!
Nicky Henderson did us a favour yesterday at Kempton when the nap Attacca won and he went on to have two more winners on the card including 32 length scorer Tweed Skirt.
Hopefully that form can continue today with Peace Of Rome who bids to make it third time lucky after a promising debut here in March and then a close second on his turf debut at Warwick.
He was a beaten favourite that day but was noted as running green, so hopefully the 201 day break will have seen him grow up a bit and be more streetwise.
Sir Mark Prescott’s Zonisty shaped with promise on debut at Worcester when fourth but now needs to both improve and handle the all-weather.
The filly A Tickatickatiming also rates a danger having shown promise on her debut at Uttoxeter when third.
OZZIE, OZZIE, OZZIE
⭕ 3.00 Lingfield Just the four runners remain for this stamina sapping 2m 7f chase on heavy ground.
It’s hard to look beyond the Betdaq Betting Exchange market leader Ozzie Man who doesn’t have many miles on the clock, arrives here in good form and most importantly already has experience of heavy ground having finished runner-up on it at Fontwell last year.
His biggest positive may turn out to be the huge question marks against his rivals so could take this by default.
Coronado Joe (254 days) and No Hubs No Hoobs (264 days) have both been off the track for a while and the latter hasn’t convinced so far on testing ground.
Chris Gordon, trained of Coronado Joe, is in good form but his runner here really struggled over the hurdles track here last year (3rd beaten 51 lengths) when the ground was soft and I’d worry about him getting bogged down again.
The field is completed by C’est Quelqu’un who has been nibbled at in the market but needs a huge leap of faith with recent form figures of PPP and 12th beaten 68 lengths.
FOXY FINAL FLUTTER
⭕ 7.30 Chelmsford This class 2 handicap stands out like a beacon on a fairly average card otherwise.
Chichester is the obvious one but looks short for a stable that are 0-13.
In contrast, Roger Varian has saddled 5 winners from his last 12 runners and although his Fantastic Fox was beaten seven lengths into second at Newbury last time out he might be worth an interest on his all-weather debut given the surface should suit on pedigree. I’ll be foxy and go for a WIN 20 return.
