NO PROBLEM AT HOUSTONN FOR NAP: Daqman landed a winning nap to start the week with Houstonn (11/10 second favourite) who as predicted got the better of Raheen Rode who was sent off odds-on.

FORTUNE COOKIES UPDATE: Daqman updates his Fortune Cookie horses to follow with two additions after the weekend action.

NOT SO JOLIE: It wasn’t an official Daqman selection more an observation/warning about Jolie Coeur Allen who has let her supporters down on numerous occasions.

Those that read the below yesterday and pressed the lay button on Betdaq (5/4 SP) didn’t really have many worries as she trailed in last of the six finishers beaten 28 lengths. Ouch.

THE ELITE FORTUNE COOKIES

FORTUNE COOKIES steps up to 10 with the addition of Saturday’s one-two in the Hackwood at Newbury, Elite Status and Lake Forest.

Elite Status was added to Fortune Cookies in May but was removed when we heard he had problems with a foot, not serious but necessarily needing a complete cure.

We thought the enforced holiday may count against him when he reappeared on Saturday but, though Karl Burke agreed that the colt wasn’t 100%, he won in fast time.

Runner-up Lake Forest came late on the scene, which was quite something, considering the fast time of the race. He was also runner-up in the Commonwealth Cup and I forecast he may try 7f.

116 BEDTIME STORY (Aidan O’Brien) Moyglare, Curragh, Sept 15
113 BIG EVS (Michael Appleby) King George, Goodwood next week
111 ELITE STATUS (Karl Burke) Haydock Sprint Cup, Sept 7
110 JAMES’S DELIGHT (Clive Cox) not yet known
111 LAKE FOREST (William Haggas) not yet known
120 LOOK DE VEGA (Carlos and Yann Lerner) Arc De Triomphe, Oct 6
116 PORTA FORTUNA (Donnacha O’Brien) Matron Stakes, Leopardstown, Sept 14
118 ROSALLION (Richard Hannon) Sussex Stakes, Goodwood, next week
116 SOSIE (Andre Fabre) Arc De Triomphe, Longchamp, October 6
106 UXMAL (Joseph O’Brien) Goodwood Cup, next week

Score so far: 4-7. Latest: Sosie WON 100-30, City Of Troy WON 1-4, James’s Delight WON 33-10, Rosallion WON 5-2.
Profit 127.66pts to 20pt level stakes.

CLEVER CURRENCY ON THE NAP

⭕ 3.30 Lingfield Getting the excuses out the way early but when you look through today’s offering it’s odds-on you’ll come to the same conclusion as me. Bets, let alone good bets are thin on the ground.

I struggled for a nap contender but have settled on Clever Currency here in the belief that he has improved since joining Michael Bell from Paul Flynn and therefore might be on a more than workable handicap mark.

He was well backed on stable debut at Yarmouth but failed to peg back Shield Of Honour in a bunch finish where two necks separated the first three home with 11 lengths back to the fourth!

It’s not form to get carried about but this is a weak contest and James Doyle takes over in the saddle, the step up in trip will help and the ‘new’ trainer has added some first time headgear.

Miss Sligo’s recent placed efforts bring her right into this but she can throw in the odd poor run as she did over course and distance three starts ago when trounced 18 lengths.

MY NOTES ON HORNBLOWER

⭕ 5.00 Lingfield Hornblower is up 5lb for his course and distance win last month which came after a break of 277 days.

He was nibbled at in the Betdaq Betting Exchange market that day and won in really good style – suggesting he can cope with the hike in the weights.

Clear danger looks to be Dream Pirate whose two career wins came back to back on the turf last season but he’s yet to score on the all-weather. Tom Marquand takes over in the saddle for the first time.

I’M OBSESSED !

⭕ 7.10 Wolverhampton So Obsessed continues to climb the handicap ladder but surely has a great chance of completing her hat-trick and making it four wins from the last five.

Oisin Murphy is again aboard and whilst So Obsessed seems uncomplicated in terms of running style it would be no surprise to see him try and jump out and play catch me if you can on the mare who has plenty of pace.

DAQMAN’S BETS

5.00 Lingfield (win 10)

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
