FINAL FLING OF THE YEAR: It’s Daqman’s traditional final-fling yankee today, split between Lingfield and Warwick. He naps last year’s Lingfield winner, Tyrrhenian Sea, for a repeat

TOMORROW: Ring in the new year with bull’s-eye bets and the first nap of 2025.

THE TOAST IS BETDAQ VALUE

🗓️ 2024 Out with the old today; in with the new tomorrow. We’ll take the hint and have as one leg of a final-fling yankee the veterans’ race at Warwick (1.20).

2025 We have Cheltenham back tomorrow on New Year’s Day for some decent bets at seven meetings in England before the new list of Fortune Cookies later in the week.

⭕ 1.14 Lingfield (Race 1️⃣) First jockey to now-retired Sir Mark Prescott for 12 years, Luke Morris landed a Christmas double for Archie Watson.

Today he is back on board Watson’s Kylian, on whom he scored at Newcastle in November.

But that and their subsequent second to Equilateral at Southwell has pushed the gelding’s rating up to 99 and he was a drifter this morning.

Fourth in the Newcastle race was Sommelier. Now 11lb better off with Kylian, he just gets the vote. BETDAQ 7.1? Waiter: bring the wine! The toast is BETDAQ value.

⭕ 1.20 Warwick (Race 2️⃣) Supervisor was still able to score as a novice in February before he lined up for – and won – a veterans’ chase at Wincanton two months later in between two attempts raised to class 3.

That novice success (made all) was first run back after a 285-day break, and here he is after 253 days off, down to class 4, back to veterans company as the youngest horse in the race.

NAP HAS THEM ALL AT SEA

⭕ 1.44 Lingfield (Race 3️⃣) These are the best quality animals on show all day: in a 1m 2f Listed.

All bar the low-level three-year-old carry the same weight but the five that are left are wide apart in the ratings, spread over 21lb.

The November Handicap fourth Auld Toon Loon excelled himself that day. He had already perked up for a change of stable (Lucinda Russell to Tom Dascombe), scoring at Bath in a class 4

Fantasy Believer, who has had 50 races, landed a hat-trick in the summer but he and Auld Toon Loon are at least 12lb adrift of the three highest rated.

Pride Of America missed out most of the year until a poor run at Newcastle confirmed that he needed his fourth wind surgery.

Royal Champion has won Listed races at Ayr (2022) and at Ascot in the summer of last year for Roger Varian.

Second in a Group race in Australia for the Freedmans but now back in UK in the care of Karl Burke.

Meanwhile Roger Varian himself has a strong interest today with Tyrrhenian Sea, last year’s winner of this, successively second and third in the Listed Churchill Stakes and third in the Winter Derby.

GENIE IS OUT OF THE BOTTLE

⭕ 2.20 Warwick (Race 4️⃣) Young horses do well in this and the clash of Land Genie and Spitalfield is interesting.

Land Genie had a good first run at Exeter for Dan Skelton, after moving from Jonjo O’Neill, who trains Spitalfield.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
