‘JIMMY’ AND BBC SAY RAIN

⭕ 2.00 Lingfield By Lingfield’s jumping standards the going today is rock hard! We’re accustomed to seeing heavy as the long odds-on favourite the track but on the chase course today the course this morning was good! I saw WAS as there is plenty of rain about so you might even collect yet if you’re on the odds-on ‘heavy’!

The field sizes have held up reasonably well and the best bet on the card could come in the class 3 handicap hurdle at 2.00.

Branson Missouri is the clear market leader on Betdaq Betting Exchange but is also quite hard to evaluate. She is seemingly much improved based on two recent wins at Worcester (the latter by 22 lengths) but has been hiked a further 11lb up the handicap to a career high 114.

The key to her seems to be the ground – the bulk of her form has come on good but she proved what she can do on soft last time and I’ve turned to an unofficial twitter correspondent ‘Jimmy’ for hope as he says: “I live not far from lingfield, absolutely bucketing it down ☔️”

In case you trust the BBC more, they also point to plenty of rain in the Lingfield area today described to be ‘heavy’ and with a 98% chance of it falling at midday.

I’ll trust the two correspondents and take my chance the ground will have come right again for Branson Missouri who can complete her hat-trick.

Icare Grandchamp looks too short in the market for me. He was disappointing on stable debut at Worcester (also soft) and hi starting handicap mark looks plenty high enough.

SOUTH CAN BE KING OF THE NORTH

⭕ 3.42 Newcastle The best race on the card is also the first race. This class 2 handicap in which King Of The South is preferred to Jack Darcy.

The William Knight trained runner has a great record here at Newcastle winning four races and is just easing back down the handicap.

He was by no means disgraced when fifth in a Listed race at Kempton last time out – running better than his 40/1 starting priced implied and will find this company easier.

Jack Darcy makes his all-weather and handicap debut and obviously has to be respected heading here from the Coles stable. I’d be a lot more positive on his chance if it wasn’t for the fact that the step up in trip doesn’t look an immediate positive based on his recent turf efforts.

STATES THE CASE FOR U S A

⭕ 5.45 Newcastle George Boughey has several good chances on today’s card including Mrs U S A here. You basically just need to put a line through her most recent effort in a valuable York nursery as she was repeatedly denied a clear run.

She is probably better judged on her previous Sandown win where she still looked green with plenty of scope for further improvement.

The Boughey stable are flying with 11 winners from their last 32 runners and it would come as a huge shock if those figures weren’t improved upon at close of play today.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
