10 DAQMAN WINNERS IN A WEEK: After six winning days in a row, Daqman aimed high at the minor meetings yesterday and, despite only one winner, his staking plan limited losses to 13.75 points. Fairway Freddie’s 12-1 second was the cruelest cut; Nolton Cross (WON 5-4 for James Doyle) his light at the end of the tunnel for 10 winners in a week for 66 points profit.

TODAY: Today Daqman updates his Fortune Cookies list and looks at the entries. He keeps the stakes low today but has staked in such a way that one winner from his three picks will seal a profit on the day.

FORTUNE COOKIES UPDATE

OUT ALLAHO (177 Willie Mullins) Ruled out of the Ryanair with internal condition.

AN TAILLIUR (139 Jonjo O’Neill) Needs a sound surface and has won four starts in the Spring; likely to wait for Aintree and Galway, where his owner lives.

ASHTOWN LAD (145 Dan Skelton) Becher Chase winner with Grand National possibilities. Might run in the Rendlesham Hurdle or the Pertemps qualifier at Haydock, or the Swinley Chase at Ascot; all three races are on Saturday.

IN BLAZING KHAL (145+ Charles Byrnes) Unbeaten in five starts since December, 2020, when a member of the FORTUNE COOKIES team. Stayers Hurdle favourite after winning on his return at Navan on Saturday.

BRAVEMANSGAME (172 Paul Nicholls) Six chases out of seven; next stop, the Gold Cup.

CAPODANNO (160, Willie Mullins) Still only seven but Gold Cup and Grand National targets. Favourite course: Punchestown.

CORACH RAMBLER (146, Lucinda Russell) Ultimate winner at the Cheltenham festival; one of only 31 English entries for the Grand National.

EDWARDSTONE (170 Alan King) A rare blunder at Kempton over Christmas; then beaten at Cheltenham in the Clarence House; but still our Champion Chase play.

IN EL FABIOLO (159+ Willie Mullins) Arkle favourite at Cheltenham after impressive win in the Irish version at the Dublin Racing Festival, with his 160 and 152 rated stablemates, Appreciate It and Dysart Dynamo, 10 lengths behind.

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS (175 Willie Mullins) Seven wins in a row and our Irish choice for the Cheltenham Gold Cup.

GREEN BOOK (135 Venetia Williams) Landed the FORTUNE COOKIES a 6-1 strike at Sandown, qualifying for the Pertemps Final at Cheltenham. Rendlesham Saturday?

HERMES ALLEN (142, Paul Nicholls) Ballymore favourite; won the Challow Hurdle in a canter.

HEWICK (167, John Joseph Hanlon) Aintree Grand National mission for this €850 buy, after winning the Sandown Gold Cup, Galway Plate and American Grand National.

OUT LAC DE CONSTANCE (145 Dan Skelton) Turners Novices target but needs to get back on track first.

NOBLE YEATS (167, Emmet Mullins) Back-to-back wins in the autumn showed the National has not left its mark, as so often happens. So we can assume his Cotswold Chase third is part of his Aintree build-up.

IN PIC D’ORHY (162 Paul Nicholls) Daqman forecast ‘this is another Frodon’. Sure enough, he won the Silviniaco Conti at Kempton, as Frodon did. Live chance of beating Shishkin in the Ascot Chase on Saturday.

PROTEKTORAT (170 Dan Skelton) November Grade-1 winner, in the frame 12-14, improving all the while and another with the Gold Cup target.

ROYALE PAGAILLE (163 Venetia Williams) Great run second in the King George. One for Cheltenham each-way on soft-heavy.

STATTLER (163 Willie Mullins) NH Chase winner at Cheltenham last year. Just held by one-time Gold Cup winner Minella Indo at Tramore and second again, tackling Galopin Des Champs, giving FORTUNE COOKIES an Irish Gold Cup one-two.

ILLUSION TO ESCAPE CHAINS

⭕ 4.10 Lingfield Gary Moore has several fancied runners on today’s jumps card at Lingfield including in this long distance handicap chase with Movethechains.

The nine-year-old doesn’t have many miles on the clock and has a perfect 4/4 record here at Lingfield over fences. However his four wins have come on good to soft, soft and heavy ground. Looking back further at his CV and his two runs on today’s forecast of good ground have been less illustrious.

He finished fourth of five, beaten 94 lengths, at Southwell on good ground and was then pulled up at Stratford on similar quicker ground.

On the plus side the stable are in cracking form and he will find this race much easier than the Welsh National where he was a far from discredited fifth to The Two Amigos but the ground for me is a big concern if you are playing at short odds on the Betdaq Betting Exchange where he has been a morning drifter.

Art Of Illusion has no secrets from the handicapper but more often than not runs his race and looks a good alternative.

This will be his longest race to date but he has given every indication he will see out this marathon trip and wasn’t stopping at Plumpton last time out when beaten a neck. He also reassuringly has winning form on good ground.

HARRY’S BEEN IN NO HURRY

⭕ 6.30 Newcastle A decent class 2 handicap on the Toon tonight that can go to Diligent Harry. He started his career winning three of his first four races but has struggled for success since – although he has been mixing it at the top table including in the Group 1 Platinum Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot last summer.

He ran well on the all-weather at Lingfield last time out behind Annaf in a Listed race and with the stable in good form he can take advantage of this drop in class as he returns to handicap company.

Sir Robin is hugely progressive but up in grade and up 7lb in the handicap so life gets much tougher.

⭕ 8.00 Newcastle A speculative play in the nightcap on Abnaa. The two at the front of the market Anif and Wadacre Grace are place specialists who are firmly in the grip of the handicapper.

Abnaa had a nightmare run at Wolverhampton last time out which is probably best ignored and given another chance to see if he can build on his previous two wins at Southwell.
