BEN BIDS FOR NUMBER 99
⭕ 3.18 Newcastle Ben Haslam is Mr Newcastle, scoring 65 winners there in the last five years, near-50% of his 500-plus runners finishing in the first four.
One key to success for his Middleham yard has been the patronage of J P McManus. His next winner in the green and gold hoops would be number 99 for the prestigious owner.
Ben is in form from his last seven starters, with a 14-1 hurdles strike for J. P. at Musselburgh and, yes, another Newcastle winner, this one 16-1.
The green and gold is carried today by Flying Scotsman, who is a hard horse to get right and has been on holiday much of the time since his last success here at Newcastle in January. BETDAQ 60.0 (three places 7.6).
Trainer Hugo Palmer landed me a one-two at better than 24-1 (CSF) yesterday, and Ben would provide an even bigger return if he produced the first two in this one.
As well as Flying Scotsman, he saddles the Kodiac mare Violeta, who has won twice at Newcastle, and ran second here after a three-months break just 15 days ago. Betdaq Betting Exchange 14.0
NO PROBLEM FOR PADDY
⭕ 5.00 Newcastle Dark Cloud Rising came back to form in first-time cheekpieces here three weeks back, but Monks Dream was beaten only a neck after a bad start.
Paddys Day has won four of five sprints at Newcastle this year, climbing 16lb in the handicap and with no problem moving through the grades. BETDAQ 8.8.
Oriental Prince landed a gamble when dropped in class here on the first of last month. He’s back up a few pounds again but found a perfect partner that day in Lauren Young. BETDAQ 6.6.
POWER SURGE BY CLOVER
⭕ 5.30 Newcastle Newmarket trainer Tom Clover completed a hat-trick in five days when State Of Madness won here at Newcastle a week ago.
In his first year with a licence, Tom is back there with Political Power, who was beaten a head on his last visit to the course over 7f. The mile today is perfect.
Priapos is penalised 7lb for a CD success the last day; Eve’s Boy (0-9 in handicaps) is giving weight all round.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
