EYE EYE

ā• 3.00 Wincanton The Tizzard yard remain in good form and can land this with the mare Bobbi With An I.

She won a novice hurdle here in January and has performed with credit in her two more recent handicap starts notably at Ascot last time out when fourth in a class 3 event. Off the same mark and down in class she should prove hard to beat.

Apples Moon is the obvious danger. She is 3-5 in handicaps and whilst up a further 6lb after her Exeter win last time out further improvement can’t be ruled out.

THE WAY AHEAD

ā• 3.30 Wincanton A wide open Betdaq Betting Exchange market for the final race on the card – a handicap hurdle just short of two miles.

Birthday Angel bids for a hat-trick but a 6lb hike may now have a say and this is harder than the course and distance race she won last month.

Oakley’s Way is also up in the weights but he seemed to have a fair bit left up his sleeve when winning at Taunton last time out when it was good to firm. However I think he will be equally as comfortable on today’s testing ground.

I’ll include Star Artist who shaped well on handicap debut at Kempton when weak in the market. He’s lightly raced and might be capable of further improvement.

NO MOUNTAIN TO CLIMB

ā• 6.15 Newcastle Irish raider Mount Ruapehu doesn’t stand out on recent form figures but he is 1-2 on the all-weather and can rejuvenate his season here off what could be a ludicrously attractive mark.

He won off a mark of 69 at Dundalk last January and races off 51 here – even allowing for the Irish and UK handicap marks not always being completely aligned that 18lb drop is jaw-dropping if taken at face value,

The downside is that he doesn’t arrive in great form on the turf although in mitigation he has been plying his trade in much tougher races.
