DREAM 16-1 WINNER FOLLOWS RUNAWAY 9-4 NAP: Daqman made a profit of 44 points yesterday with three winners in a row, starting with a 10-lengths success for his 9-4 nap and, within 20 minutes, landing a 16-1 winner, as follows:
WON 16-1 LIVVY’S DREAM
WON 9-4 HUMPHREY BOGART (nap)
WON 2-1 GABRIAL THE SAINT
SIX WINNING BEST BETS OUT OF THE LAST SEVEN: Humphrey Bogart gave him winning nap number six out of the last seven, a sequence which included four consecutive winning supernaps. Profit to 20-point level stakes: 145.
WON 9-4 HUMPHREY BOGART (Monday nap)
2ND 7-4 CLIFFS OF MOHER (Sunday supernap)
WON 4-5 RECOLETOS (Sunday supernap)
WON 10-11 BATTAASH (Saturday supernap)
WON 3-1 UBER COOL (Friday nap)
WON 4-6 POET’S WORD (Thursday supernap)
WON 4-6 WITHOUT PAROLE (Thursday supernap)
DERBY AND OAKS COUNTDOWN CONTINUES TODAY: Today Daqman checks out the kind of result you can expect in the Derby and the Oaks. His countdown continues tomorrow and Thursday with ABC guides to both big English Classics. He has two ante-post bets in the bag already.
BIG-ODDS WINS FROM LEADING STABLES
OAKS winners up to 50-1. I warned yesterday that more shocks could be on the cards in the top fillies’ races after 12-1 (twice) and 66-1 winners of the 1,000 Guineas in England, Ireland and France. The Epsom Oaks stats confirm that prospect.
Only 25% of Oaks winners have been favourite since 2005 and only 25% had won a Group race.
Five of the last 10 winners started 20-1 (three times), 33-1 and even up to 50-1, yet they were saddled by leading trainers – Ralph Beckett, Aidan O’Brien and William Haggas – and three of them had been Group placed.
This column is already invested in Perfect Clarity, who this morning is on offer at 9.8 in the BETDAQ orange.
ANTE-POST (win 50): 3pts PERFECT CLARITY 18.0 BETDAQ
The Derby stats are the reverse of the Oaks. The Epsom Classic winners since 1999 have all came from the first three in the SP market, barring last year’s 40-1 shock, Wings Of Eagles, the first at such a price since 1974.
But the Derby placings can produce huge odds up to 80-1, even 150-1, for second and third. This year? Well, once again we’re on big but look out for my Oaks and Derby ABC guides in the next couple of days.
ANTE-POST (win 100): 5pts ROARING LION 20-1 (now 7.6)
PLENTIFUL POTENTIAL FOR CUMANI..
3.30 Redcar Three-year-olds are getting between 14lb and 19lb from older horses here which probably accounts for them beating four-year-olds 5-2 in the seven years of this event.
There is Plentiful word that Luca Cumani has laid one out of the race he won last year. Wouldn’t have to be much to win.
In fact, Plentiful is closely related to Luca’s King George winner Postponed and seems to be head and shoulders above his opponents on potential for class, but 4.1 on BETDAQ this morning.
4.00 Redcar Front-runner Carlton Frankie, 3.7 favourite here, drops in class after showing up well in some major handicaps this season.
Merry Banter has tried 11 times to win off marks of 80 and above and failed, so I couldn’t take 4.5 BETDAQ offers this morning.
The one looking too big was Peace Dreamer (at 9.8), with Jonathan Fisher big value for his 7lb claim, getting the horse home from a difficult position at Bath.
A winner here at Redcar over 6f last summer, Peace Dreamer has had a month off to recover and returns just as the stable hits form again with two winners in the last few days.
6.50 Brighton Silvestre De Sousa’s last three rides for in-form Simon Crisford have resulted in two winners (211).
And, though the champion has a full house of seven mounts at Lingfield, he has plenty of time to nip down to Brighton for one evening ride, the Crisford runner, Romaana.
Best form in the race is Orsera’s victory at Leicester last September when she forged clear. But fourth filly home that day was none other than Romaana, running green and now with a 7lb pull.
As Romaana steams, I could get 3.6 Orsera. Peter Chapple-Hyam has just hit a hat-t rick. He works Orsera with his Musidora fifth, Lubinka so I’ll give her a go.
8.20 Brighton Second in this race last year, With Approval is a standing dish at Brighton, runner-up again twice before a winner over CD in September.
He was the ‘moral’ beaten only a neck here on the last day by Kaaber, giving that one 4lb. It could be close again with a 3lb claimer trying to keep Kaaber in front.
But there was money about this morning for Fintech (14-1 > 9-1 with the bookies), 10.5 on BETDAQ, with Philip Hide’s yard in hot form.
