DAQMAN STILL THE TIPPING KING: Small stakes on Monday and bets in just three races but that didn’t stop DAQMAN coming up with another winner. King Athelstan WON at 5/2.
WHERE DID DAQMAN FIND WINNERS AT 27.0, 25.0 AND 20.0? Daqman has been winning big in the big races, with recent 14-1 and 16-1 hits, but this week’s cups on Friday and Saturday – Ayr Gold, Silver and Bronze – have overflowed with six strikes, including 27.0, 25.0 and 20.0 BETDAQ bets. Read all about it below.
AYR GOLD CUP: SIX YEARS, SIX HITS
Lucky, lucky Daqman. After Mustajeer (WON 16-1 from BETDAQ 26.0) in the Ebor and Oxted (WON 14-1 from BETDAQ 20.0) in the Portland, Daqman is buried in the form books this week, ready for another big race he excels in.
He has tipped the winner of the Ayr Gold Cup and its consolation Silver and Bronze six times in six seasons in his column.
WON 11-1 SNAZZY JAZZY (Ayr Silver Cup 2018) from BETDAQ 20.0
WON 12-1 LUCKY LUCKY MAN (Ayr Bronze Cup 2018) from BETDAQ 27.0
WON 11-1 BRANDO (Ayr Gold Cup 2016) from BETDAQ 25.0
WON 20-1 CLASSIC SENIORITY (Ayr Bronze Cup 2016)
WON 6-1 DON’T TOUCH (Ayr Gold Cup 2015)
WON 20-1 HIGHLAND COLORI (Ayr Gold Cup 2013)
⚠️ HEADS UP: Ralph Beckett, who last year won the opening big race at Ayr, the Doonside Cup (Listed) on Thursday, could run two if the ground is soft, his last year’s winner and fourth, Dolphin Vista and Air Pilot.
Dolphin Vista was back to form in August, taking a Listed in France, only his fourth outing since Ayr last season.
Air Pilot is 10 now but lightly raced for his years and not seen since March. Air Pilot’s form back from a break on soft/heavy ground is: 21312112143.
⚠️ HEADS UP: Beckett has brought back Feliciana De Vega, 2-2 last year as a late-season juvenile, for another autumn campaign. Ring rusty on her return at Haydock in August, she waits for Ayr Friday if conditions are not suitable tomorrow at Sandown.
FIDDLER ON THE HOOF
4.30 Redcar Call Me Ginger has achieved the most but there are reasons for taking him on at such a skinny price.
He’s been off the course for 209 days when he was a 100/1 neck second at Newcastle. Both of his starts to date have come on the all-weather, so we’ve no idea whether he will be as effective on the turf.
Add into the mix that his trainer Jim Goldie hasn’t had a winner in the last two weeks from 17 runners and the 2.08 on BETDAQ at the time of writing makes limited appeal.
Desert Land has a much more exposed profile but comes from a stable in good form (David Simcock, 4 winners from last 23) and the drop back to six furlongs could suit.
Unlike the favourite, he is race fit and handles fast ground on the turf.
5.00 Redcar The Fiddler should prove hard to beat as he goes in search of a repeat course and distance win.
He’s up 5lb for a comfortable win here last month when he had over two lengths in hand passing the line and should be able to shrug off that hike in a race that certainly doesn’t look any tougher.
Trainer Chris Wall is in good current form (3 winners from last 11) and The Fiddler is preferred to last week’s Catterick winner Jan De Heem who scored in an amateur rider event over this trip.
Elsewhere there are a few suspect stayers, including Lincoln Tale who in any case is held on current form by The Fiddler.
5.10 Yarmouth A tightly knit six runner sprint handicap concludes the card.
Merry Banter won a much stronger race than this at Epsom last time out and this Grade 4 event is two notches down.
That’s countered by a 4lb rise in the weights but the mare is preferred to Han Solo Berger who lost his race at the start at Doncaster last time out and is better judged on a narrow Newmarket win the time before.
DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 10 points)
BET 4.0pts win DESERT LAND (4.30 Redcar)
BET 7.3pts win (nap) THE FIDDLER (5.00 Redcar)
