PREVIEW: KEY RACES AT CHELTENHAM

12.45 Cheltenham (Friday) The subsequent RSA winner Blaklion (2015), the Ultima gamble Singlefarmpayment (second) and the NH Chase placed Sizing Tennessee (third) have all won this in the last three years.

Six-year-olds are seven from eight, and Drovers Lane is likely to run well for that age group on Friday.

1.20 Cheltenham (Friday) Philip Hobbs was quiet last season and some of those underperforming are now winning easily, so much so that the likes of Master Work was able to defy a penalty on the last day, and could do so again here.

2.30 Cheltenham (Friday) Mon Mome (Grand National) and The Package (Kim Muir) won major stamina tests after taking this 3m 2f chase.

The race would be a good stepping stone to Aintree for Rock The Kasbah (see horses to follow lists in the Daqman Archive).

3.40 Cheltenham (Friday) At Fishers Cross was just five when he won this 3m hurdle (2012) on the way to victory in the Albert Bartlett. That age group has few representatives but Worthy Farm would be a good one on Friday.

STAR NAP AT SOUTHWELL

12.20 Southwell Regular readers will know how heavily I place an emphasis on prior course form when it comes to the unique Fibresand surface at Southwell.

In this Ladbrokes Home Of The Odds Boost EBF Novice Stakes one seven furlongs it might therefore seem odd that I’m very keen on the chance of Fox Kasper as he has never run on the surface! He does have the perfect Fibresand pedigree though and comes here on the back of a great debut effort at Kempton when third to Manorah.

He drops back in trip today and has a good draw and is preferred to the exposed Zip and St Peters Basilica who is one of John Gosden’s lesser lights.

1.20 Southwell Gabrial’s Star returns to the track he loves (3 wins from 4) and can leave his recent form well behind.

He has tonnes to find with Sbraase on Wolverhampton form last time out but he is a different class performer here at Southwell and is now dropping in the weights. It’s a DOUBLE bonus in our favour, back to his track and down in weights. Nap.

2.40 Fontwell Outofthisworld made up for unseating at Market Rasen with a smooth win on her return to the track last time out. She’s lightly raced, stable are in good form but is a short price to defy her penalty.

Despite being beaten 15 lengths when second last time out Pardon Me has been mixing it a higher level, she is around 7.8 on BETDAQ so a win bet with a stakes saving place bet is hopefully a bet to nothing.

DAQMAN’S BETS (win bets staked to win 20 points, place bet as instructed)

BET 5.1pts win (nap) GABRIAL’S STAR (1.20 Southwell)
