DAILY WINNERS WITH DAQMAN: Daqman’s winner-a-day strikes just keep on running! Yesterday included his second winning nap of the year, gambled in to odds on at Newcastle last night. Many more to come to match the 2023 total of 111.

Saturday

17.0 BET FOR CHELTENHAM: Daqman named a 21.0 outsider for Cheltenham yesterday, and has another ante-post today in the BETDAQ Sportsbook, this one 17.0.

TAKE 17.0 THE GOLD CUP GREY

👀 SEE HOW THEY WON: Horses aged seven and eight have won nine of the last 10 Cheltenham Gold Cups. Four out of six have been rated 164 to 167.

Galopin des Champs aside, as one seeking to do the double at a non-value price and who can be your saver any time, we already have his dual conqueror, Fastorslow, in our Fortune Cookies, and Gerri Colombe is eliminated since his form has not lived up to scrutiny.

That leaves Gentlemansgame just short of the mark we need, currently off 160, but sure to find a decent prep run and maybe add 4-5lb before March 15.

The grey, owned by a Cork-based consortium, is underrated for his defeat of last year’s Gold Cup runner-up, Bravemansgame (172) in the Charlie Hall, remarkably only his third race over fences.

His trainer, Mouse Morris, excels with stayers and was my Fethard friend when he won the Grand National with Rule The World (2016) at 50.0 on BETDAQ.

He’s had the winner of the Irish Grand National twice and won the Cheltenham Gold Cup with War of Attrition in 2006.

War Of Attrition earned £741k in his career, a phenomenal amount for the time, and is recognised as the kingpin starter of the Gigginstown operation.

BETDAQ Sportsbook 17.0 Gentlemansgame

WILLIAM CODY HAS HIS TURN

⭕ 2.40 Market Rasen Grey Skies drops back to his winning distance, down in grade, but has clearly been disappointing, and gives weight all round.

Maninsane is a winner at this level but as a novice not in senior chases, and Nordano has been absent for 722 days.

William Cody (BETDAQ 3.55) was second three times in a row in the autumn, running up to past winners and a future winner (Scene One behind). His turn at last?

⭕ 3.10 Market Rasen Charles St has been 12 times second in 20 starts over hurdles, and on Flat Turf and AW, and his success here the last day was his first in 19 attempts since breaking his maiden, an example of my rule against maiden-only winners. But what to oppose him with?

Our Bill’s Aunt is another with a hard-to-win-with sequence either side of scoring at Chepstow in the autumn of 2022: before 022042; after 33323.

Haafapiece is down in the ratings 16lb since he was raised for scoring at Wetherby last year at this time but is 0440 on today’s track.

Sizing Pottsie has crashed 22lb in the last 13 months but is hard to predict: 1-10 over hurdles, while his stable is struggling on 1-23 in the last two weeks.

Homme D’Un Soir could be the answer, 19lb down from his old mark but four times a winner and a good third in December on his first start for Billy Aprahamian: BETDAQ 4.4.

21.0 SOLDIER ON PARADE

⭕ 7.00 Southwell A decent prize for a 7f class-2 handicap has produced a good turn-out from some top yards.

CD winners back for more are Lord Of The Lodge, Intervention, Zip and Stone Soldier, with Zip best drawn among them. His winning form comes after a month’s break, as now.

Zip divided Greatgadian and Chuzzlewit when they were 2, 3, 4 behind Master Zoffany at Newcastle last month, all three giving the winner weight.

Chuzzlewit caught the eye on his first run since being gelded, and was marked by trainer Kevin Ryan as one progressing slowly and one for this year.

Intervention, off 90, is 16lb higher than for the start of a four-timer in November and December, culminating in a class 2 at Wolverhampton, but was then turned over at odds on the last day.

Stone Soldier’s Southwell form is 1101201 and he’s now below his last winning mark.

Doctor Khan Junior was upped 24lb for four wins in six starts, returning from injury, and then took a break. Related to a Group winner so may not have finished yet.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 7.5 Doctor Khan Junior, 16.5 Zip, 21.0 Stone Soldier.

★ NAP OF THE DAY (6.30 Southwell): James Doyle is back. He has a 23% strike rate for Simon and Ed Crisford and Jacques Cartier looks poised after a promising debut in December.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
