⭕ 3.08 Beverley despite there just being nine runners this looks the most competitive race of the day with the Betdaq Betting Exchange market struggling to find a market leader.
The five furlong course at Beverley used to be the most significant draw wise – basically you were doomed if you were drawn low but in recent years the effect bias has levelled out – although by choice (and possibly tradition!) I think I’d rather take a high berth, if offered.
This is a low grade renewal and also run on expected soft ground so I will be keeping BETDAQ stakes low but I think there are two that might give us a run for our money.
Westgate Warrior (drawn 1, boo) has the most obvious chance in that he appears to be running back into form. He handled the easier conditions well when a 20/1 third at Nottingham last time out and this looks easier.
At bigger odds the play might be Invincible Annice (drawn 9, Daqman covering both sides) who relishes the soft ground and finally gets some relief from the handicapper.
GOING TO COTO
⭕ 3.38 Beverley sticking with the five furlongs for this decent class 2 conditions event of which all five runners have won races in their latest two starts.
Again, the ground may prove the deciding factor. Coto De Caza is two from two with soft in the description including a five length romp here last July where she had them strung out by National Hunt distances.
She was outclassed in Listed company at Sandown last time out but the easier ground and drop in class could easily bring about a return to winning form for the Crisford trained runner.
BOTH OF US TO LAND NAP
⭕ 8.30 Southwell A long wait for the nap but hopefully worth it in the Southwell finale.
Both Of Us is out again quickly after his Brighton win eight days ago and can defy the resulting statutory 6lb penalty. The win was reward for a consistent period of form including on the all-weather and he might well be able to follow up at this modest level.
The market points to Infantry Officer as being the danger but his form has tailed off spectacularly and I would want to see more.
