⭕ 2.00 Catterick Itsinthename has gone close in his two starts to date. On his point debut he finished third and then improved to finish a head second to Broken Vow in a Lingfield bumper.
He has since transferred to the Nick Schofield yard and should prove hard to beat in this race where many of his main rivals have already had their limitations exposed.
Chief Betdaq Betting Exchange rival is Crack Ops was a good ground winner at Ludlow in a bumper before being outclassed in better company at Cheltenham. He is trained by Oliver Greenall & Josh Guerriero who have a 1-22 strike-rate over the last two weeks which surely tempers confidence?
Myrighthandman finished third on his hurdles debut at Southwell where the two mile trip appeared to stretch his stamina and he might have the same problems today on the same good to soft ground.
COUNT ON MOUNT
⭕ 2.42 Newcastle A typically competitive five furlong handicap on the Tapeta at Newcastle in which there are several that are struggling for wins off their current handicap marks.
This includes morning favourite Amerjeet who recent form reads 506606848522-732 yet the handicapper has now put him UP a pound!
There is value elsewhere and I like the look of Mount Ruapehu who was a six furlong winner here in December and has run well in two starts since at Dundalk.
He now joins the Iain Jardine stable who are going well with four winners from their last 17 runners and the morning market signals were positive on Betdaq.
SOLDIERING ON
⭕ 8.00 Southwell Trojan Soldier caught the eye here last time when second to Aajej over 1m 6f and looks well worth the step up to two mile for the first time as he was doing his best work at the finish.
Main danger is likely to be Further Measure who goes well here and comes into this on the back of a narrow win at Kempton for which he has been hit by a 2lb hike in the weights.
Captain Robert disappointed when sent off favourite at Wolverhampton last time out and is probably best watched to see if the first time blinkers have any positive impact.
