BIG-RACE UPDATE: BRIDGE TO AYR
GRAND NATIONALS: Famous Bridge is likely to lose the Grand National Trial he won at Haydock, because of a banned substance (of course, winnings from Daqman’s selection at 6-1 still stand).
Famous Bridge will be counted out of the Liverpool Grand National to run in the Scottish Grand National at Ayr the following weekend.
Mr Vango is also forced to miss the Liverpool marathon because his Midlands Grand National ratings boost of 10 days ago came too late for his Aintree weight to be revised; so he won’t get in.
‘Don’t believe everything you read online’ department. Big-name horse set for unexpected Grand National run, says a weekend headline. Unexpected, indeed, because it refers to Constitution Hill, who might run in the Aintree Hurdle.
🗓️ TOMORROW: the Lincoln Handicap
NOTHING TO ADD
Confession. Do you ever look at a race and think NOTHING can win? That was the case for me today across the afternoon cards at Hexham and Taunton.
The 3.05 at Taunton especially – I went through the form for all nine runners and was none the wiser 🙁 But that’s the advantage we have as backers – we don’t need to play, whereas layers need to price up EVERY race.
I’ll stick to the all-weather action at Newcastle for Tuesday’s three recommended races:
⭕ 4.43 Newcastle: Jim Goldie is in great form with five winners from his last eight runners and looks to have the answer here with Ana Emaraaty who returns to handicap company after winning a classified event over course and distance last time out.
He should finally be able to end the winning run of hat-trick seeker Rubellite who is up again in the weights and is also now up a full 10lb from his course and distance win earlier in the year.
I’M LED BY ZEPHLYN
⭕ 5.45 Newcastle: The Betdaq Betting Exchange market is dominated by recent winners Alex The Great and Market House who are taking out over 50% combined.
There might be a little value in looking elsewhere and I like the look of Zephlyn who goes well over this marathon trip and off the same weight has been given a chance to go one better than his course and distance second last time out.
In contrast both Alex The Great (up 5lb) and Market House (up 2lb) are hitting new levels in the weights and are both on career high marks.
IN STELLA FORM
⭕ 8.15 Newcastle: Stella Barclay (also trains Rubellite mentioned in the 4.43) is well adept at getting her horses to run up sequences and it’s the case here too with Cloch Nua who brings impressive form figures of 11151 into the race.
The only blip came at Southwell but he bounced back well to win well at Newcastle last time out and I think can defy the resulting 4lb hike in the weights in what doesn’t look a deep event.
Main danger might be Bomb Squad who often fills the frame and remains on a very competitive handicap mark.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
