ON THE LEVEL THIS AFTERNOON: Today, Daqman concentrates on Flat racing at Leicester, Redcar and Lingfield with four selections covering the three tracks. His Nap runs on the turf at Leicester.
DOYLE TO BE MAN OF THE MOMENT AGAIN
Three meetings on the flat today. That’s what I’m concentrating on with the jumps at Hexham and Huntingdon of little interest at this time of year. Although Fox Norton, rated 145 over Hurdles, makes his debut over the larger obstacles at Huntingdon, he still offers little by way of value.
LINGFIELD On the All Weather, I have one bet running at 2.40. A five furlong handicap that is lacking hugely in quality.
I can only identify two horses that are really worthy of winning this, Meritocracy and Dangerous Age. However, I am discounting Meritocracy due to his draw. I think he can still go close but being drawn 9 of 10 in Lingfield is of no help at all.
Although he’s not drawn much better, Dangerous Age does have a better berth coming from stall six. His All Weather form far outweighs his turf form and on the back of his third behind Go Nani Go over C&D on May 1st, he could be hard to beat.
LEICESTER Two selections for a slightly better card at Leicester. The first runs at 3.30 with Richard Hughes teaming up with Sylvester Kirk on the useful Groundworker.
The Tagula gelding won a similar event at Windsor last summer and despite his form tailing off at the end of last season, he made an encouraging reappearance in mid April. He’s back onto a mark of 75, which he won off last June, and with Hughesie likely to be more prominent this time, he could take some catching.
Today’s Nap runs at 4.30 in a relatively open looking race. But, Alfajer looks very hard to beat on the back of her Hanidcap debut in April in a BETDAQ race at Doncaster.
That run was over a mile and she appeared to get tired close home along with not fully seeing out the 8 furlongs. Dropping back over 7 furlongs, she looks to still be on a very workable mark at 82 and has plenty more to offer.
Rosalie Bonheur is the obvious danger to the selection but the lack of a recent run is not in her favour despite going three from three last season.
REDCAR Finally we go to Redcar for another Sprint race. This is another that is very questionable on form but Rozene escapes a penalty for a recent win at Ripon and provided that run hasn’t taken must out of her, she should be able to improve the required amount for the slight step up in class.
