TUESDAY FAYRE: Daqman has four selections from three races on Tuesday including an evening nap at Wolverhampton.

GRAND NATIONAL CLUES AT DOWN ROYAL: Just five runners go to post for the Bluegrass Racehorse Cube Chase (3.38pm) at Down Royal today but the field includes three Grand National entries in Roi Mage (won this in 2022), Gerri Colombe and Nick Rockett who both should dominate but no Daqman bet in this one.

SCORE FROM A CORNER

⭕ 1.45 Exeter Maiden hurdles aren’t my usual first port of call but I can’t get away from Dutch Corner who looks a standout bet on an otherwise tricky card at Exeter.

The Dan Skelton trained runner has finished third in all three of his starts so far but has been mixing it in what looked much better company than this and a repeat of his Newbury third to the long odds-on Sober Glory last time out should be more than enough.

Sober Glory went on to give the form a massive boost at the Cheltenham Festival last week when finishing second to Old Park Star in the Supreme.

Main dangers on the Betdaq Betting Exchange Constellation Walk and Karpenn are already starting to look slightly exposed. The former switches back from a handicap run and the latter is hard to assess on British debut having hinted at form in France, although has been off the course now for 359 days and the market might end up being the best guide.

HAWTHORN STREETS AHEAD

⭕ 4.22 Wetherby A test of stamina over three miles for this handicap hurdle for which Hawthorn Street looks set to be sent off favourite.

He got off the mark in a weak Catterick maiden hurdle last time out (front two finished well clear) and a starting mark of 114 looks fair enough before you even factor in likely further improvement.

The biggest positive for him though is the paucity of opposition. Kapal Layar and Buzz Iceclear both arrive on the back of really poor runs last time out and are best watched,

At bigger odds Ladronne could again be capable of at least running into a place. He’s much better known as a chaser these days but the 12-year-old is on a seemingly attractive mark of 110 over hurdles and is a big price in a race full of question marks.

FORTIFICATION LOOKS STRONG

⭕ 7.30 Wolverhampton I’m saving the nap for this class 4 handicap where Fortification can continue his consistent run of form for trainer Archie Watson.

The three-year-old was a course and distance winner in November when ridden by today’s pilot James Doyle and should hopefully be suited by the first time blinkers today having found Baker Blue too good here last time. The winner was stepped up to Listed company in France last time out and there doesn’t look to be anything of that class amongst the rivals today.
