GO COMPARE! FOLLOW BIG VALUE BETDAQ

Arkle Chase (Tuesday) Whichever is Nicky Henderson’s number-one, punters have had the best odds on both in the BETDAQ orange.

L’Ami Serge, 7-1 generally with bookmakers but 6-1 in places yielded 8.6 offers on BETDAQ when I checked last night. Vaniteux, 8-1 with most, 7-1 with some, was a huge 13.5 with the exchange.

Champion Chase (Wednesday) 7-1 in a place in the Oddschecker comparisons, Dodging Bullets was best at 8.6 BETDAQ offers.

And you should be making more than a cursory click in the orange if you want to be on before he runs in Saturday’s Game Spirit Chase at Newbury.

Champion Hurdle (Tuesday) Every single runner in the Champion Hurdle books was a better offer on BETDAQ, with the orange totaling an overround of only 108% and with the biggest anomalies among the favourites:

They went 12.5 Arctic Fire (7-1 most layers), 26.0 Nichols Canyon (10-1 and 12-1 at the bookies); 21.0 Identity Thief (10-1 to 14-1); 21.0 The New One (mainly 14-1 and 16-1).

Gold Cup (Friday) The sportsbook on the other exchange had 4-1 joint-favourites Vautour and Don Poli, but they were 5.6 and 7.2 respectively in the free market of the BETDAQ orange.

Mares Hurdle (Tuesday) If the bookmakers are right to quote Vroum Vroum Mag as low as 3-1, then she continued to be hot value on BETDAQ at 8.8.

RSA Chase (Wednesday) And, if the six bookies who offered 12-1 Black Hercules are right, then his 18.0 on BETDAQ was almost 50% better value.

Ryanair Chase (Thursday) I hope you haven’t missed out. BETDAQ clients could last night get 9.0 Vautour, though he was 4-6 favourite with Corals, evens in two other places and 5-2 best.

And the 12.0 on BETDAQ about Valseur-Lido could be compared with 7-2 fixed odds (in a place), 8-1 best.

Anomalies like this may not last long, and the lesson is: keep checking the bookies’ prices alongside the BETDAQ offers once or twice a day.

First ‘price up’ the horses, estimating what you think is a fair deal. Then, if you see one bigger than the odds you want, and bigger than the fixed odds, take up the offers in your window of opportunity.

ANOTHER RED LETTER DAY FOR MOSCOW..

3.30 Carlisle Moscow Me takes a 400-mile round trip to Carlisle after a break, 17lb higher than for his two wins out of three in November-December.

But his trainer, Henry Oliver, is himself two out of three right now, whereas the other stables represented in this have all failed to score a single winner among them in the last fortnight.

A change of tactics on Dr Moloney saw him sent to the front at Down Royal last week and keep on for a place but that race was the equivalent of two grades below this one.

4.05 Carlisle Kilbree Chief has been struggling since a novice-hurdle win more than two years ago and, though he has pulled up behind him on the last day, Courtown Oscar looks the danger to Subtle Grey.

His 1.88 offer seemed worth taking this morning, though I shy away from giving anything banker status on this poor-quality card, with the track barely raceable.

4.30 Carlisle Peter Winks is still celebrating his Scottish Champion Chase win on Sunday with Chestnut Ben at 18-1, and could finish off the last bottle of ‘shampoo’ in this one, also at a price.

Hartside is a comfy win-and-place bet at 9.6 here (I shall make an offer and try to top it up to 9.8 and earn myself 2% commission). Hartside was winner and third in two visits to Carlisle at this time last year

Captain Redbeard is carrying the flag for Stuart Coltherd, his only horse showing any form recently, but the trainer will have some explaining to do if he wins.

Captain Redbeard has a 7lb penalty for winning over 20f at Sedgefield on the last day in January, when the Stewards were told ‘it’s the step up in trip that’s done the trick.’

Why then drop him back three furlongs today? I should think the answer is: nowhere else to go, and trying to strike while the iron’s hot.
