Who farms Doncaster? The Lincoln Handicap apart (we’ll discuss that in the next couple of days), the same trainers every year have part of their string ready for the early action.
The head harvester in the decade of this weekend’s Doncaster prizes has been Richard Fahey with a massive 18 winners, often from blanket coverage.
But this year you are fair-warned that the Malton maestro has just five horses entered in six races over Saturday and Sunday on the Yorkshire track.
Richard Hannon and Mark Johnston give themselves plenty of chances but Charlie Appleby and Roger Varian, both with stables in form, have concentrated their efforts on five or six animals.

⭕ 1.55 Ffos Las It’s more Ffos Less than Ffos Las this afternoon with field sizes of 8,4,5,10,4,5,4. Too much racing?
The card does throw up a good bet in the opener with Seventeen O Four for the David Pipe yard.
The five-year-old has top weight here but has put in a couple of decent efforts recently in finishing runner-up at both at Sandown and at Exeter where the winner Hititi looks very much on the improve.
Whilst still a class 4, this looks a slightly easier contest for Seventeen O Four and he can gain his first win since Chepstow last December.
Good Impression was bidding for a hat-trick but was really disappointing at Ludlow last time out on his first start for Dai Burchell and would need to bounce back from that effort.
A bigger danger may come from Rossbeigh Strand who has run well in his last two starts and looks to have scope for further improvement unlikely many in the field.
HURRICANE APPROACHING
⭕ 2.10 Haydock Hurricane Ali is out on a recovery mission having been a well beaten favourite at Uttoxeter last time out but crucially that came on soft ground and all his form to date is on a better surface.
He won back to back races last year off slightly lower marks but I think the ground really is the key and it has moved in his favour and against some of his BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE rivals.
It’s hard to oppose anything from the Don McCain yard at the moment – the stable had a four timer at Carlisle on Sunday and are now running at 11 winners from their last 35 runners.
Their fancied runner here Sacre Pierre won on soft at Sedgefield last time out but does have winning form on good but the 6lb rise is more of a concern.
The ground may count against L’Incorrigible who was pulled up on good ground last time out in a Point and his previous Rules form all came with give in the ground.
TIME FOR TIM HAT-TRICK
⭕ 2.45 Haydock One McCain runner I want to be with today is Tim Pat in the extended three and a half mile chase.
He powered home to win well at Carlisle last time out and I think there is every chance he’ll see out this longer trip on better ground. At six he’s the youngest in the field and can continue his rapid progress.
