DAQMAN LANDS HIS NAP WITH EDUCATED STAKING PLAN: Daqman stayed ahead of the game yet again yesterday, when he followed up Monday’s 11-2 strike Harranda with his nap, Hey Teacher (WON 1-1) at Epsom, staked to win cover for the rest of his bets and leave him in front after two days of Bank Holiday week. There’s more staking wizardry today with his nap running tonight at Hamilton.

100 Tim Easterby The Yorkshire trainer, who had his first ton up in 2018, is chasing a personal best 126 after landing his fastest century with Motarajel at Beverley on Sunday.
100 Colin Keane The champion reached to the fastest century ever in the Irish Flat jockeys’ championship at Navan on Saturday. Keane is almost 50 ahead of his nearest rival, Shane Foley.
100 Oliver Sherwood A window on the Jumps. Celebrating 100 winners in five years, he is the trainer to follow at this time of year (33% strike rate). Sure enough his first runner for some time, Puffin Bay, won at the last Stratford meeting and he is currently on 50%.
100 Roger Varian Notched 100 winners for the season (23% strike rate) on Saturday at Windsor. Other ton-up trainers in England for the year are Mark Johnston 164, Andrew Balding 115, Richard Hannon 114, William Haggas 109.
Balding leads on total earnings (£3.5m) followed by Charlie Appleby (£3m), Team Gosden (£2.9m) and Aidan O’Brien (£2.7m).
1,000 Ger Lyons Some 26 year after Johnny Murtagh landed him a Navan maiden, Ger Lyons saddled his 1,000th winner as a trainer at Roscommon on Monday with Offiah (Colin Keane’s 100th winner).
Numerically, leading Irish trainer this season is Joseph O’Brien (78) from Aidan O’Brien (68) and Ger Lyons (59). Aidan O’Brien leads these two rivals for prizemoney won.
NO GIFT HORSE IN THE MOUTH
⭕ 3.00 Lingfield A modest Lingfield card and the featured class 3 which opens the card at 1.00 looks trappy despite there just being three runners. Best bet on the card could come in the 3.00 with last week’s Wolverhampton winner Prince Kendeux.
He races under a 6lb penalty which is offset in the main by the 5lb claim of
Kieran Schofield.
That was his first real sign of ability in five starts but also his first start on the all-weather so there must be every chance of further improvement – particularly if the first time cheekpieces also eek out a better run.
His trainer Tom Dascombe is rolling along quite nicely with 6 winners from their last 26 with notably two good winners at the Ebor Meeting.
The warm favourite is likely to be Gift Horse who has been running consistently well including over course and distance last time out when a length runner-up Corazan in a better grade race.
That gives her every chance but she looks very short in the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE market and the form of the James Tate yard (0-10) is a slight concern.
IRIS SET TO FLOWER
⭕ 7.20 Hamilton Small fields the order of the night at Hamilton with every race having single digit runners.
This 7.20 is getting even smaller with the defection of forecast favourite Ey Up It’s Maggie and Princess Power and that should now leave the door open for Iris Dancer who has been running consistently well.
She seems to have improved for the move to Tristan Davidson and after two close seconds here in her last two starts surely deserves to go one better.
Both those runs came over five furlongs and the step up to six tonight looks sensible given that she was really motoring in the closing stages when just failing to catch Glorious Rio last month.
CAUGHT IN A TRAP
⭕ 7.50 Hamilton Temper Trap goes well over course and distance and is well worth another chance on the back of a frustrating run at Pontefract last time out. The four-year-old had a list of problems – took a keen hold in the race, met trouble in running and lost a shoe too boot!
Just a bad day at the office and is probably better judged on his previous win here in July.
He gets the nod over Hot Team who ran better at Chester last time but is still 7lb higher than his win here in May and might just be in the grip of the handicapper.
