WEATHER-BEATEN AFTER 15 WINNERS: You need to cancel a meeting to stop Daqman! After 15 winners in a week, and four naps in a row, he concentrated on Southwell yesterday but, ironically, the ‘all-weather’ meeting was abandoned. After seven winning days, he had only one Tuesday runner: My Mate Mike (not clear run) 3rd 10-1.

❌ Hexham abandoned this afternoon

TODAY: FORTUNE COOKIES for the weekend, with Ascot and Haydock set to go ahead.

CAPO COULD STILL BE LEADER

FORTUNE COOKIES: We always try to fill the Cookies wallet in the early stages with horses that can strike first or second runs of the season, and subsequently are rarely out of contention. They have to like the course, have strong future targets.

CAPODANNO (Willie Mullins) 3.05 Haydock, Saturday.

Capodanno is highly regarded by Willie Mullins. First reckoned a Gold Cup horse and twice put into the Aintree Grand National, he continues to be aimed high: King George and Gold Cup.

A big-boned animal, he beat some of the star names of Saturday’s Haydock race when taking the Cotswold Chase at Cheltenham in January. The Real Whacker was second, Ahoy Senor fourth after stirrup-leather broke, Royal Pagalle fell last.

FAMOUS BRIDGES (Nicky Richards) 3.40 Haydock, Saturday.

Famous Bridges was only seven when he won this race last year, then went clear over the CD on heavy, winning the Tommy Whittle. Fourth in the Ultima at Cheltenham but likely to have a crack at the Grand National.

Champion novice chaser at the 2022 Punchestown Festival; Cotswold Chase winner at Cheltenham in January and fourth in the Ryanair at the festival.

RITA ROCKS FIRST TIME OUT

⭕ 2.35 Ffos Las When Daqman is knocked back by circumstances, he likes to return with a biggish price somewhere among his bets.

I was going to call Rock On Rita an ‘outsider’ but, as I write this morning some punters have already cottoned on that the mare has so many things in her favour here that even 8.0 may shrink before I go to press.

Rock On Rita: trained Neil Mulholland; in hot form and hoping this is his 40th winner of the current campaign. Scored twice running after a break, including here at Ffos Las.

MURPHY! HE’S THE ONE..

⭕ 5.30 Kempton Interesting that the grey gelding Notre Belle Bete returns to the race in which he was favourite last year.

He missed out by less than two lengths after being hampered in the final furlong, the winner going on to place three times (one win) in Listed company.

But in the intervening period, the three-year-olds in this race have done some growing up and are now just a few weeks away from their fourth birthday.

The very lightly raced Victorious Secret is Dirt bred, which gives his Southwell success in August more significance, but the Crisford brothers (0-16) and Harry Davies (0- 14) are all in poor form at this time.

Roi De France still looked immature in the Cambridgeshire, and is bred to be classy and get a stamina trip. The one stall is a bit offputting but Oisin Murphy is a Houdini when it comes to problems like that.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 2.6 Roi De France, 22 Notre Belle Bete

SUNDANCE CAN KID THEM

⭕ 7.30 Kempton A class-2 two-miler with two going for a hat-trick but neither one favourite this morning.

Duke Of Oxford has that dubious honour, a dual winner on the course at this time last year, and stuck on the consequent higher rating largely because he was third in the Northumberland Plate.

Of the two on a treble, Cool Party has already beaten Duke Of Oxford but is 5lb worse off as he bids to hold on to a length and a quarter advantage.

Berkshire Sundance won here in class 6 last September but is a stone higher now after back-to-back wins in October, when he carried big weights which could have put him in a class-3 handicap, so this may be a bonus in disguise.

It should be easier getting 10lb and 12lb from the two I’ve talked about in this betting triangle with him.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
