12-1 WINNER AND 65.07 FORECAST: It was Daqman’s Day again yesterday! For the second day running, he named a one-two, this time picking a 12-1 Newcastle winner with the 9-2 second, paying a 65.07 CSF. Monday’s winner and second was at Wolverhampton. Reverse forecasts on the two one-twos could have netted nearly 90 points to add to almost 33 points from the staking plan on singles.

WHERE THERE’S ‘SMOKE’..
⭕ 1.50 Cheltenham, Saturday (December Gold Cup): Ratings and form.
154 GA LAW Jamie Snowden’s runner-up to Il Ridotto in last year’s November Gold Cup here, he was disappointing for this December gold, 23-lengths ninth, and his best race at Cheltenham was when winning over this CD on the new course in January 2024 but the handicapper has not let him off the hook and he carries 12st top weight on Saturday.
148 COLONEL HARRY Best form since achieving this rating in small-field novice chases came last month at Aintree, making an impressive Grand Sefton return over the National fences (2m 5f).
148 JAGWAR Four out of five over fences including 2-2 on this new course at Cheltenham in the J P McManus colours.
But first run back since winning the Plate at the Festival and stable out of form (1-25), though a bit of encouragement when its only recent favourite (joint) won at Musselburgh on Monday.
143 IMPERIAL SAINT Progressive for Team Hobbs, which had a good autumn, and Imperial Saint had results of 1101 last year at this time before a Grade-3 handicap third over this CD on the new course. Reluctant to line up for the Old Roan on his return.
139 VINCENZO The Sam Thomas team was in hat-trick form last weekend, notably taking the Welsh National Trial with Jubilee Express.
Vincenzo split Panic Attack and Hoe Joly Smoke in the November Gold Cup and is now 5lb worse off with ‘Joe’, who was short of room at the last.
131 HOE JOLY SMOKE Stepped up from handicap company here, third over 3m 1f, to run third again in the Grade-3 November Gold Cup, six lengths down to stablemate Panic Attack over just short of today’s trip, both races on the old course. Winning form is all over Sandown’s 3m.
125 KIM ROQUE Anything you can do! Paul Nicholls won this with Frodon when the gelding was only four, and again when he was still only six. Today is Joseph O’Brien’s turn to try with a youngster.
A five-year-old ex-French, Kim Roque will relish the conditions but made mistakes at the November meeting here and may need more time.
SEND THIS TO COVENTRY
⭕ 2.25 Hexham today This will need a resolute stayer on the forecast heavy ground combined with the sweeping uphill finish at the Northumberland course.
The starting point has to be Wee Alki who won over course and distance a month ago when the ground was good to soft and he now needs to do it again off a 5lb higher mark and on ground he has yet to tackle in 12 career starts.
He has an obvious chance but lumping 12 stone around will be some effort and on value grounds on Betdaq Betting Exchange I am looking elsewhere.
Coventry is a risky customer – his 1 from 38 career record says that but he has plenty of ticks in the right boxes here where many don’t.
Stamina or the ground shouldn’t be a problem given he was a good third on heavy at Ayr last time out over a longer trip of three miles. He looked to benefit from a drop in the weights that day and the handicapper has kept him on the same mark.
APPLEBY HARVEST TO CONTINUE
⭕ 6.00 Kempton The nine race card starts with two divisions of a fillies’ novice race where there are too many interesting newcomers to get involved. Definitely races worth watching though for future clues.
Charlie Appleby (4 winners from last 7) might well have a had another winner by the time it comes to this nursery handicap as he has the odds on shot in the opener. He has a solid chance here too with Beccadelli who looks reasonably treated off a starting mark of 81.
After promising efforts at Lingfield and Newmarket he was seemingly disappointing when a well beaten odds on second to Ray Man Dough back at Lingfield last time out. The winner was making his debut and looked well above average so he may well have ‘bumped into one’.
SUNDANCE FOR NAP
⭕ 7.30 Kempton A really good stayers race that looks better than the official class 4 ranking.
It pits together New York Minute (bidding for four-timer) and hat-trick seeking Dance Time who are both shooting up the weights.
New York Minute romped home by 14 lengths at Southwell in October but a 12lb hike in the weights didn’t stop another win for the three-year-old last month. It was by a much more slender neck margin though and a further 3lb ride might be the tipping point.
Dance Time is up in class, distance and the weights after an easy win at Wolverhampton last month.
However she is well held by Berkshire Sundance on turf form at York in October.
Berkshire Sundance can probably be forgiven a bad run at Southwell last time out in the race won by New York Minute and his overall form makes him there pick here.

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….
Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
