NECK AND NECK FOR DAY’S PROFIT: Daqman landed a double at Wolverhampton last night, with his nap and then his selection in the very next race, both scoring by a neck. But a neck is as good as a mile when you get paid out!
Tuesday profit on the day 16.20 points
WON 5-6 FARASI LANE (nap)
WON 6-5 DANEHILL STAR
DO THE FACTS STAND UP? Today Daqman continues to dig out the stats and facts that could help you find winners at value offers on BETDAQ. He thinks you’re an April fool if you plan to follow the Brocklesby!
STILL IN WITH A SHOUT!
PUNTERS used to follow Lincoln Handicap runners for their fitness edge and Brocklesby Stakes two-year-olds for their experience over debutants they would meet in the Spring.
The Brocklesby was an absolute goldmine for early winners but the trend seems to be broken. It no longer stands up to replacing the old traditional opening, the ‘champion for a day’ apprentice race.
Last year the first four home in the Brocklesby lost 18 races against one winner at 11-10; there was the odd strike from the remainder but the level-stakes losses were painful.
The Lincoln itself is a dead loss, with the Doncaster Mile – the race before it on Saturday – a much better bet for finding future winners, perhaps because of its Listed status.
Last year, only the Lincoln winner from the once-great handicap scored again quickly. Every one of the next seven home failed and failed again, losing a total of 37 consecutive races.
Low stalls did well in that 2025 Lincoln and interesting that the most prolific winner afterwards had finished 9th from gate 21. He won three times in his next four starts at 5-1, 100-30 and 9-4.
The best place to be in this year’s race on Saturday was again a low stall. So I’m interested in checking out the future form of badly-drawn fancied horses, Tribal Chief, third out of gate 21; Valvano, 6th out of 16; and Shout, 9th out of stall 19.

TIME TO GO LOOPY
⭕ 3.20 Wincanton Muskova was heading the morning Betdaq Betting Exchange market but is on a recovery mission having pulled up, seemingly without any reason, at Warwick last time out. On the plus side for the likely favourite is that he is taking a class drop and should go well on the faster ground. However, the run last time out is a major concern for me.
A safer alternative might be Golan Loop who sports cheekpieces for the first time. He’s done quite well since switching to chasing and won well at Hereford in December off a mark of 115.
He’s up to 119 now and his nine length third to Bective Abbey last time out can probably be upgraded given he lost a shoe during the race.
Loup De Maulde has been lightly raced since back to back wins on soft ground in March 24. He was a 35 length fourth at Warwick last tine out (the same race that Muskova was pulled up in) and probably needs to show more to be competitive here.
SHOUT AGAIN FOR VICTORY
⭕ 4.50 Wincanton The penny dropped for Victory Shout at Taunton last week when he landed a gamble to win well under today’s pilot Paddy Hanlon. A follow up looks on the cards under his statutory 7lb penalty and the same good ground which he appeared to relish.
Walk In The West is back for another crack at Victory Shout having finished a two length second to him at Taunton.
The swing in the weights gives him a big chance of reversing the form on paper but I am concerned whether the extra trip here, of nearly half a mile, will be in his favour.
BALZAC GETS THE NAP VOTE
⭕ 6.30 Kempton Balzac is hard to get away from here given he receives weight from main dangers Magic Trip and Winding Stream.
Balzac caught the eye on debut with his 22/1 (from 40/1) third to Maltese Cross in what looked a decent Newmarket maiden. The winner holds an entry for the Derby and the runner-up Del Maro went on to finish third in a Group 3 back at Newmarket.
Magic Trip won well at Bath on debut but had his limitations exposed when last of eight in a Group 3 at San Siro next time out.
Winding Stream won well enough on debut at Southwell but the form hasn’t worked out particularly well and he might be vulnerable under his penalty tonight.
