NOW IT’S SIX NAPS OUT OF EIGHT: Daqman, who made 811 points from a naps sequence of 28-43 to May 30, took his current naps tally to six in eight days, thanks to Aryal (WON 9-2) yesterday, which he tipped despite form figures of 040004.
227 POINTS PROFIT HAUL: A 20-points level stake would have brought in 227 points since the first day at Royal Ascot. The winners have been:
KINGMAN (WON 8-11) banker
INTEGRAL (WON 9-4)
LEADING LIGHT (WON 10-11) banker
PIQUE SOUS (WON 11-4)
MINLEY (WON 5-4)
ARYAL (WON 9-2)
125 POINTS IN FOUR DAYS: In terms of recommended stakes at BETDAQ offers, Daqman is 125 points up after four consecutive winning days (seven out of eight) with Laudatory (WON 4-1) yesterday as well as Aryal.
* TOMORROW: Pitman’s Derby ABC
* FRIDAY: Irish Derby ABC
* SATURDAY: The day of two Derbys
The only scare with yesterday’s NAP, Aryal, came at the start when the grey stumbled but after that he travelled well under Franny Norton to land my latest nap at a juicy 9/2.
I’m bidding for the third winning nap from three so far this week and it seems appropriate enough to target a BETDAQ sponsored race at Kempton tonight.
First things first. Keep an eye on the non runners today as they are already stacking up. At the time of writing there are already seven out at Carlisle and ten absentees at Kempton Park.
The big race at Carlisle this afternoon is the ultra competitive Carlisle Bell at 4.10. It’s a race steeped in history, first run in 1599 and DAQMAN remembers that race well from his teenage years !
It’s thrown up some big priced winners in recent years and one that catches my eye this year at bigger prices is Just Paul who is around 25 on the BETDAQ win market and 4.4 on the place market.
Just Paul is simply a different horse on firmer ground. His recent form figures are 0-03105 but filtered when his last six runs when the ground was good are better read: 15121-3.
He’s not especially well handicapped at the moment but I still think he can run a big race for us and worth risking a point or two in both markets.
And now for the BETDAQ races at Kempton….
6:20 Betdaq 25 No Lose Free Bet Handicap (London Mile Series Qualifier) (3yo+, Class 4, 1m, 10 runners)
There are mixed blessings from the draw. You could say that five of the last nine places over three seasons have come from stalls 1 to 6.
Equally, you could point to four winners in the last five years having come from gates 10, 12, 13, 14. What it amounts to is this: it’s useful to be drawn very low or, if you are a hold-up horse, to get a clear run round the wide outside.
Saeed bin Suroor runs two here and it’s Musaddas, in stall one, that appeals most over first time out winner Furas. Fallon takes the ride on Musaddas which suggests he is on the ‘right’ one. Musaddas has proven costly to follow to date but ran well after a break last time out. Furas made a winning debut over six furlongs here in November but the form hasn’t worked out especially well.
6:50 Betdaq No Premium Charge Maiden Stakes (2yo, Class 5, 7f, 11 runners)
Five of the last six favourites have won this and the Sir Michael Stoute trained, Ryan Moore ridden, Disegno looks set to make a bold bid to continue that trend and is already odds-on on BETDAQ. He made a highly satisfactory debut at Newmarket when finishing third to Justice Well over six furlongs and this extra furlong should suit well. He is clearly the most likely winner but the odds look too tight given there are several interesting debutants entered too.
8:20 Cash Out On The Betdaq App Fillies’ Handicap (3yo+, Class 4, 6f, 8 runners)
The quality has gone up under BETDAQ sponsorship, with the winner’s rating 67 off 9st 9lb in 2010 but 74, 76 and 80, though all carrying less, in the three years since. Moon Spring will make a bold bid for the four timer. Two of her recent success have come here at Kempton including over this trip last time but she only won by a nose and is upped in the weights and in class tonight. I was impressed with Backstage Gossip at Salisbury and she looks the bet at around 7.6
8:50 Betdaq Supporting The Injured Jockeys Fund Handicap (London Middle Distance Series Qualifier) (4yo+, Class 4, 1m 3f, 8 runners)
So tight do they rail around here sometimes that last year’s favourite, the runner-up, though drawn two – same number of runners as tonight – had to come out wide to deliver his challenge and just failed to catch a 25-1 shot.
That second horse was trained by James Fanshawe, who does well at this meeting, but has just the one runner today, Gone Dutch in this.
Gone Dutch is 4lb higher than when a CD winner last backend (overall Kempton form 101). Drawn to get the run of the race, which he likes, but stall one is a worry: it contains a Johnston runner which also likes to play catch-me.
We can play Gone Dutch with a low risk cover on Thatchmaster.
