THREE DAQMAN NAPS OUT OF FOUR: Daqman spotted a third standout bet in four days at Southwell last night. Zoology won by a neck before he looked for One More Dream (2nd 18-5) in the last race there. This time a short-head verdict went the other way.

WON 5-6 ZOOLOGY Tuesday nap
WON 6-4 BEELZEBUB Monday nap
WON 11-2 BANDINELLI Saturday nap

BENOIT CAN CLAIM ANOTHER STRIKE: Today Daqman relies on in-form star claimer Benoit De La Sayette at Nottingham and opposes out-of-form stables at Kempton tonight. He also opposes the favourite in the feature race at Leopardstown.

LIKELY LAD FOR THE TOPHAM

NATIONAL COUNTDOWN Becher Chase winner in December, Ashtown Lad is 9.0 favourite in the BETDAQ Sportsbook for the Topham Trophy the day before the Grand National.

The Becher and the Topham are both run over the same National fences and trainer Dan Skelton feels that his nine-year-old is unlikely to stay the distance of the Grand marathon.

Another likely to switch to the Topham is Burrows Saint (11.0 on BETDAQ) who has finished fourth and unseated in consecutive Nationals.

BETDAQ front of the Grand National market is: 7 Corach Rambler, 9 Noble Yeats, 11 Delta Work, 13 Any Second Now, Gaillard Du Mesnil, 15 Longhouse Poet, Mr Incredible, 17 Galvin, Vanillier, 21 Le Milos.

But what about the ‘hidden horses’, hardly seen this season, some of them offered at huge odds?

*Look out in Daqman tomorrow.

TWOMEY FILLY TO DOMINA-TE

⭕ 3.40 Leopardstown This Listed mile is ‘owned’ by Dermot Weld, who landed a hat-trick in it with Famous Name (2010-12) then completed another hat–trick in 2019 (Imaging) with different horses.

He’s had no other runners since Imaging so that his 13-year record in the race is 111111.

What a moment for the return of Weld’s 1,000 Guineas winner, Homeless Songs, who won the 1,000 trial on today’s course as her prep!

But it’s a formidable task to compare with any of the Weld six hits; Homeless Songs had problems after that Spring double and failed to bounce back in autumn Group-1 company at Leopardstown and Newmarket.

The pacy Frankel filly, out of a Dubawi mare, may not have been suited by the soft ground, in which case today on soft-heavy may find her out again.

The Ballysax runner-up Buckaroo, has never even raced on soft, so Mea Domina is ‘the one most likely to’, as Listed winner on heavy at Saint-Cloud in October for French handler, Jerome Reynier, third-top trainer over there.

The Pivotal filly has her first start today after switching to the Cashel stable of Paul Twomey, the man with an amazing 28% strike rate over the last five seasons.

Twomey won this race last year with Pearls Galore and his stable came back to form at the end of March with a win from Irish Derby third French Claim.

Ger Lyons runs sprinter – or so they thought – Power Under Me, winner of a Listed at Leopardstown on the soft, first try at a mile in October, after a series of 6f races.

Saltonstall, fourth in this last year, was runner-up in the Irish Lincolnshire on the opening day of Flat-turf and is still a force at the age of nine.

Betdaq Betting Exchange 7.0 Mea Domina

JUSTUS MAY LIKE THE MUD

⭕ 3.50 Nottingham These horses are much of a muchness, ratings wise; all bar two are separated at most by 8lb. But the soft ground may spread them further apart.

And there could be a ‘hidden horse’ here. Justus was the one for the money last night when books opened, a good-ground performer in GB, beaten just a couple of lengths in a class 3 at Ascot.

But, in his early days with Andre Fabre, he was winner and second on soft and very soft in the French Provinces.

Haarar won first time back last Spring and finished the season a neck down in a class 3 at Newmarket. He steps up to 2m today, with nothing in form or pedigree to guarantee he gets it.

Tuddenham Green is the only recent winner. That was over hurdles on soft, beating just one other, but this doesn’t appear to be a very great occasion either.

BETDAQ value 8.6 Justus

BENOIT THE ROADWAY STAR

⭕ 4.25 Nottingham Charlie Appleby is 41121 and his Reflective Star is bred to step up to today’s trip in better company than this.

Entrancement – first run for David Menuisier – is a course winner on soft but also required to get further on his first run back after the break.

But the one most likely to find her feet over the mile and a quarter, and more, is Roadway, who could pinch this hot little prize at a BETDAQ value 7.2.

A half-sister to Great Voltigeur winner Storm The Stars, she is claimed off by the Lincoln-winning rider, Benoit De La Sayette, whose current form figures are 1013421.

⭕ 7.15 Kempton Richard Hannon has started modestly (8-73), hasn’t had a winner for nearly a month and is missing strike badly with six losers in a row all 9-2 or shorter.

Karl Burke can more than match that at 0-14 and no winners for 49 days, with six recent losers at 5-1 or shorter, two of them favourite.

That doesn’t mean Seductive Power (Hannon) and Jahidin (Walker) won’t win, and backend scorer, Monopolise, could break back first time, though that’s equally unlikely.

But, all in all, He’s A Monster doesn’t have to be a monster to score 3-3 on AW; he just has to lead the others under Hollie Doyle and prove they are short on mojo at this time.
