34.0 OUTSIDER FOR AINTREE 2022: Daqman has dared early ante-post bets on the Grand National in December and February ever since he picked the winner at 33-1 in 2007. The first of his two for the 2022 Aintree marathon is published today, also at 34.0 on BETDAQ.

TODAY: Lingfield and Hexham both passed their morning inspections. Daqman heads to both venues for today’s three bets.

MOUNT UP FOR THE NATIONAL

Fancy backing the National favourite at 60.0? It happened in the Daqman column as a ‘Christmas present,’ an early Aintree tip at huge odds.

The year is 2012 and Seabass is backed down to 8-1 market leader on the day, after 60.0 was offered in the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE and taken by Daqman.

Seabass was ridden by Katie Walsh, one of the great women-jockey pioneers over the jumps, setting a trend that has led in a few short years to Rachael Blackmore and Bryony Frost.

Daqman was able to use some of the ‘overs’ from the dramatic shortening of the Seabass odds to lay off and to back another horse in the race, Sunnyhillboy. They finished second and third!

Since then he has continued to name a Grand National horse the previous December and another when the weights come out in the February.

Balthazar King (2014) and Cause Of Causes (2017) both also finished second but Daqman hit the jackpot in 2016 with 50.0 about Rule The World and again with 40.0 Tiger Roll (WON 10-1) in 2018.

Daqman, whose first Grand National tip in this column was Silver Birch (WON 33-1) in 2007, has another 33-1 shot for next year’s race.

🔷 34.0 MOUNT IDA BETDAQ Sportsbook (7-y-o Gordon Elliott).

Says Daqman: ‘Mount Ida has already landed a gamble by winning the 2021 Kim Muir at Cheltenham, 3-1 favourite.

‘If the National was run this Saturday the Yeats mare would be one of the favourites following on the Ladbrokes Trophy at Cheltenham a couple of weeks back.

‘The winner that day, Cloudy Glen, was six-lengths second, receiving weight, from Mount Ida in the Kim Muir, and the trophy win boosts their one-two in this kingmaker race.

‘The Kim Muir has been won by many top stayers, including Gold Cup winner Cool Ground.

‘Political Pop and Ballabriggs both won it on the way to National glory and, at eight years old next April, Mount Ida likely has two or three future National dates, like her stablemate Tiger Roll.’

HAS TO BE HASEEFAH

⭕ 1.00 Lingfield The course passed their morning inspection after the effects of Storm Barra were less than expected but the going remains heavy at the Surrey track.

That tilts me towards Haseefah in this mares’ novices’ hurdle given she already has proven form on the flat on a testing surface. She was runner-up at Goodwood on soft ground and earlier in her career had winning form on very testing ground when trained in France.

There was plenty to like too about her winning hurdling debut at Market Rasen where she sauntered home to a nine and a half length success from the favourite Mulberry Hill.

She can only improve and looks a spot of value on the BETDAQ market against likely favourite Game On For Glory who has useful bumper form 2221 but all those runs came on good ground and Lingfield’s heavy will be a huge contrast on her hurdling debut.

Nicky Henderson’s Lilly Pedlar has attracted support now she gets the testing ground again on which she has run well previously. The concern would be that she ran very poorly on her reappearance at Kempton and the ground wasn’t solely to blame. She jumped badly that day and was pulled up so she’d be a leap of faith project.

BIG FAN OF DINO

⭕ 1.30 Lingfield Get Bye heads the market but there are so many question marks next to his name:

❓ First time handicapping
❓ First time chasing
❓ Modest form to date
❓ Unproven on heavy

I’d want at least three of those boxes ticking before backing a market leader – although in his favour the Tom George yard are going very well.

A safer percentage call might be Fanfaron Dino who was a heavy ground Uttoxeter winner over hurdles last year and is one of few here that could generally be guaranteed to handle conditions. The downside is the 271 day absence but we get that factored into the price.

Valentine’s Turf also has a going question mark with his better form coming on quicker ground.

FEIVEL WORTH STICKING WITH

⭕ 2.20 Hexham Feivel might make it third time lucky in a race that won’t take much winning. The Dr Richard Newland trained runner showed promise on debut at Naas when third (soft ground) and was then in the process of running a good race on first start for new yard before falling at Uttoxeter last month.

He clearly has ability and is taken to see off Gandhi Maker who was beaten 45 lengths on hurdling debut and the rather exposed Charm Offensive.

DAQMAN’S BETS (staked to win 10 points)
BET 2.5pts win (nap) HASEEFAH (1.00 Lingfield)
BET 1.7pts win FANFARON DINO (1.30 Lingfield)
BET 2.5pts win FEIVEL (2.20 Hexham)

What are points? Points facilitate a staking plan, which is the secret to creating profit. One point is whatever you choose: a pound, a euro, or whatever ….

Start with a bank and decide how much you can afford to lose over a period of time, and determine the size of your bets accordingly. Daqman makes this variation every day.
