NAP NUMBER 12 AND A DOUBLE UP FROM THREE OUT OF FOUR: No apologies for the nap, quipped Daqman yesterday. In fact, no apologies for TWELVE naps up in September so far (profit 80.77), the latest one yesterday’s Idoapologise (WON 11-4). Daqman made it three winners out of four on the day with a double in the evening at Newcastle, giving him a total Tuesday profit of 17 points.

DAQMAN LEADS PRICEWISE 38-24 INTO THE KERRY NATIONAL: Daqman and Pricewise go head-to-head today for the Kerry National, part of the week-long Listowel festival. The score for the number of winners stands at 38-24 to Daqman with 132 points separating them to a level stake.
SKY-HIGH 5.5 FOR THE CHAMPION
⭕ 2.55 Goodwood Saeed Bin Suroor does well at this time of year, including three wins in this Listed race in the decade.
His last was with Sky Hunter, a six-year-old who was scoring second run back after a long lay-off. It’s a similar situation with High End (BETDAQ 5.5) and champion Oisin Murphy has been booked.
Three-year-olds have won this twice in three years, and Bullfinch (BETDAQ 3.3) has been an eye-catching improver on AW. Can he transfer his talents to turf? The dam’s line in his pedigree is all about progress and more progress.
The second-season filly in the race has experience in the pattern. Oriental Mystique was runner-up in a Group 2 at Longchamp with cut in the ground.
Anna Nerium is a Group-3 winner at both Epsom (firm) and Goodwood (soft), so obviously likes a turning, hilly track but she suddenly steps up in trip here, so has to be watched.
Cheekpieces worked for Desert Icon in June but not in two races since (it’s the tongue-tie not the cheekpieces that is first time today). She has no form at Goodwood and none with cut in the ground.
HERE COMES ROADRUNNER AT 21.0
⭕ 3.50 Redcar Rum Runner was unlucky the last day. Slowly away, not clear run, still finished third, giving weight to the winner. This longer trip should suit.
Rum Runner’s trainer, Geoffrey Harker, has sneaked up on this Redcar race twice in the last five years and stolen the prize at 8-1 and 25-1. This one was on the road at 21.0 BETDAQ early mouse.
4.15 Perth The forecast rain would not help 11st 12lb topweight La Bague Au Roi, and boosts the chance of one or more among the lightweights.
La Bague Au Roi was a top novice but has disappointed since, albeit in good company. Trainer Warren Greatrex has been out of form; so, too, Dan Skelton (Very First Time), who is missing strike badly with four consecutive losing favourites.
Jarveys Plate’s first-time win last season came in a three-horse race when the odds-on favourite hit the last.
So I’m taking a punt on Bafana Blue, not disgraced in the Scottish National after a chasing hat-trick in the autumn. A decent prep for this two weeks ago, and huge at 11.5 on BETDAQ.
SAME PLAN OF ATTACK FOR HENRY
⭕ 4.30 Listowel (Kerry National) In my record of past Kerry Nationals, I can’t find a winning favourite since 1997, nor more than one winner over the age of nine. Seven of the last eight have carried 10st 5lb or less.
In fact, it looks hard going for the 10-year-olds that are running, particularly the two with more than 11st.
Ravenhill was second last year, beaten only a head off 137, but is now saddled with 153 on top of his age. Internal Transfer was fourth last year.
Robin Des Foret has run well without winning since he took a novice chase when rated 140; but he’s now on 149, which is 2lb higher than when second to Mortal at Killarney in August (Blazer third, Kupatana fourth) though 4lb better with the winner. Blazer now wear s cheekpieces.
Mortal is an in-and-out performer whose jumping let him down in the Galway Plate but he’s close up here at his best.
Three Musketeers has won just one small-field chase since January 2017, though he went very close in the Midlands National at Kilbeggan in July off a 3lb lower mark.
Henry De Bromhead won it with a seven-year-old weighted 10-5 last year (Poker Party) and, in Plan Of Attack, has managed to find one of the same age and within a pound in the ratings.
Plan Of Attack has finished in the first four twice (2-2) in major handicaps, including the Kim Muir, since winning an Aintree novice chase last autumn.
When he was third in the Leopardstown Chase over Christmas, he had Poker Party behind him in fourth.
Spyglass Hill would welcome any amount of rain. Another for Henry De Bromhead; lightly raced but liable to jumping errors, as happened at Galway.
Doctor Duffy The favourite today, Mayo National winner Doctor Duffy, has been hit with a 10lb penalty for back-to-back success in the summer. Must improve again; that’s not impossible but he lacks experience.
The West Awake travelled well, fourth, in the Galway Plate (Blazer seventh, Cap York eighth) without suggesting he needs this step up to 3m.
Cabaret Queen was third, trying to make all. The pundits are saying that was a performance back to her best. I would say that, off her new mark, it was a career high.
She had been second at this meeting last year (good going) before winning the Ladbrokes Munster National on heavy and getting thumped 20lb by the handicapper. She still had a stone more at Galway.
Demi Plie (first reserve) Consistent course-and-distance winner who has been prepared for a tilt at this for owner J P McManus. One comes out, the grey mare is in.
BETDAQ value: Cabaret Queen and Plan Of Attack have been around 10.0 this morning. And Demi Plie will no doubt be shorter than this morning’s 20.0 if she gets in.
