BACK-TO-BACK DAQMAN NAPS UP BUT OUTSIDER NOSED OUT AT 16-1: Daqman landed back-to-back naps with a winner at Doncaster yesterday which he feared would be odds on, but there was evens available on BETDAQ in the morning and the SP was 5-6. But luck had been against him earlier when Indie Angel (2ND 16-1) was a winner on the nod before the line and again after it but Notforalongtime had his head down where it mattered and won by a nose. Daqman won’t get over that, not for a long time! His two naps:

OAKS ABC: PEACEFUL CLASH WITH ALPINE STAR IN SUNDAY’S DIANE: Epsom Oaks stats suggest that late-developing fillies with very little experience win most often, and that’s reflected in Daqman’s ABC Guide to Saturday’s field, with Aidan O’Brien saying that the Irish 1,000 Guineas winner, Peaceful, will miss the race for the Prix de Diane instead at Chantilly on Sunday, where she will clash with Jessica Harrington’s Alpine Star. Frankel filly, impressed considering she got a bit lit up, winning the Ribblesdale from Ennistymon and Passion, with Bharani Star fourth. Must improve again.
ABCDE ENNISTYMON
Filly by Galileo, took a big leap forward in running second in the Ribblesdale but needs another step up in this company.
ABCD LOVE
Moyglare winner as a juvenile, took the Newmarket 1,000 Guineas, full of zip at the finish despite racing wide and stamina for this not in doubt. By Galileo.
ABCD PASSION
Yet another Galileo; sister to Irish Derby and St Leger winner Capri. Behind in the May Hill as a juvenile, staying on third in the Ribblesdale.
ABCD PEACEFUL
Quality sort by Galileo again. Four of the next five home were rated higher when she won the Irish 1,000 Guineas, outstaying the field.
ABD DUBAI LOVE
Had a long season in Dubai (second in the UAE Oaks) then third, trying to win the Sandringham at Ascot from the front, giving 20lb and 17lb to the first two.
ACX BHARANI STAR
By Sea The Stars, won at Haydock, then out quickly again for the Ribblesdale: 100-1 fourth behind Frankly Darling, Ennistymon and Passion.
A QUEEN DAENERYS
Frankel filly, fifth in the Fillies Mile as a two-year-old; runner-up this term in the Newmarket Pretty Polly (1m 2f): finished well and should relish Oaks trip.
CD TIEMPO VUELA
Took keen hold when favourite for the Pretty Polly and finished 15 lengths behind Queen Daenerys. Could do better in time.
CE ORIENTAL MYSTIQUE
Kingman filly showed her inexperience when struggling at Newbury behind Franconia (Gosden thinks this winner not up to Oaks standard).
E GOLD WAND
Golden Horn filly with speed on dam’s side. Seemed to stay well enough when breaking her maiden at Newbury recently (1m 2f).
Peaceful may wait for Prix de Diane at Chantilly on Sunday, states trainer.
CHANCE FOR INFANT TO GROW UP
⭕ 1.20 Musselburgh Just the four runners here but Infant Hercules is very much preferred to chief market rival Night Moment who has finished second in both his starts on the all-weather and was a beaten favourite last time out.
In contrast, Infant Hercules already has the benefit of a spin on the turf and it was a good effort too at Thirsk when third to the odds on High Peak.
The first four home have yet to reappear but the fifth from that race My Best Friend came to win next time at Hamilton to give the form a boost.
Infant Hercules should improve significantly on his second start and give trainer Kevin Ryan another winner at the course (was successful here yesterday with Bea Ryan).
JUMPS BACK WITH ROUSING ANTHEM
⭕ 1.40 Southwell UK Jumps racing resumes at Southwell this afternoon and whilst there needs to be a caveat on the form book I’m thinking Black Anthem is ahead of his field in this handicap hurdle that he warrants a bet.
He came back after a 96 day break to win at Stratford last July, so hopefully the absence won’t prove a negative to his chances today and for his new trainer Tom Lacey.
Three of his four career successes have come on good or good to firm ground whereas plenty of his rivals have shown their best form with give in the ground. Richard Johnson is an obvious positive in the saddle.
Can You Believe It looks a danger despite being hiked up 11lb for his easy Newton Abbot win where the penny dropped, according to the trainer, for the removal of the hood and a wind operation. That was his first win eight starts but he could easily improve further.
GIGI THE KEMPTON GEE-GEE
⭕ 5.10 Kempton Tommy Rock looks a little short for this six furlong handicap. He won well enough at Wolverhampton but a 6lb penalty is quite an anchor in what looks a tougher race.
Same comments apply to the Roger Charlton trained runner Ivadream who is up a harsh 6lb for a head victory at Windsor and also The Blue Bower – up in the weights after her Wolverhampton success over the longer seven furlongs.
There might be value at juicier odds and Gigi’s Beach could be the one. He won over course and distance on his handicap debut and has run well since at Yarmouth and Lingfield and could easily bounce back to winning form here.
