HEXHAM SNOWED OFF: Rain and snow about (Hexham abandoned) and despite the rider restrictions – or may be because of them – Kempton tonight could be the place to be. First a nap at Warwick for a home run by the flying Skeltons.

CHUGGY TOP SKELTON CHANCE

⭕ 2.35 Warwick Chuggy looks the pick of the Skelton seven left in this two-day Warwick home meeting, back up in trip where he is expected to do well, and double your money (BETDAQ 3.0)

Placed in staying hurdles events, he dropped down to 2m to score at Uttoxeter early last month on his debut over fences, the first time they got serious with him, and only the second time Harry had done the steering.

TEMPTING RIDER FOR TONIGHT

⭕ 5.40 Kempton Races are for riders who had not won 30 races in a period prescribed by the Jockey Club. Not the sort of scenario punters are normally looking for but no wonder Kevin Stott has a full book of rides.

Kevin overtook his total (27) of the last Jockey Club assessment period for this and, for example, is able to ride Two Tempting although he is now on 31 winners in the current season.

Another reason to be on the six-year-old is that, according to the Racing Post’s assessment of how a stable’s runners match up to their ratings, Jonathan Portman’s are achieving 100%.

Two Tempting is a CD winner, now spot on his last winning mark, improving on his summer season to finish a close second at Southwell 19 days back.

Conceding 11lb, he was beaten less than a length by First Principle, who relies on Harry Burns’ claim to stay in front. But it’s taken Harry three years to notch up a Stott total.

The negative against Two Tempting is his age, which is double that of previous winners of this race, both three-year-olds, incidentally both from the lowest stalls, 1 and 2.

In the one stall on Dark Tornado is John Egan, who has 20 winners this year, two of them on this very horse.

The four-year-old grey has moved stables and is on his debut for Phil McEntee today (another with 100% RTF) but John was an obvious favourite to keep the ride!

Best of the three-year-olds by a long chalk is three-times AW winner, Dividend, fourth in the Britannia at Royal Ascot.

Silver Peak was fourth in a Group 3 as a two-year-old but hasn’t been seen since and reappears as a gelding. Watch the market!

Betdaq Betting Exchange 5.9 Dividend, 8.5 Two Tempting, 52 Dark Tornado

HIT FOR MISS DOWN IN CLASS

⭕ 8.10 Kempton Some shocking examples of youngsters who prefer not to win; you can feel the pain as the $260,000 buy Just Keep Flying just keeps disappointing.

Money talks this morning for Hinchinbrooke (Kevin Stott again) after a good run over today’s CD then a length second in a big field at Yarmouth.

But I’m told that a hood has worked well at home on Miss Tonnerre, once so highly regarded that she ran in the May Hill and the Musidora, and has not been seen below Listed level since her debut. Today is a class-4 handicap. BETDAQ 14.0
