The odds-on pair both won and paid enough at the early BETDAQ offers but not at SP and the bull’s-eye bet itself, ridden with confidence by the champion jockey, suddenly sent out distress signals and fell.

TIGER 2: UNFAIR TO MAKE AINTREE STAR CONTINUE RACING: Tiger Roll has been withdrawn from the Grand National – not declared – and, says Daqman, it would be perfect timing to retire the dual Aintree winner altogether: ‘unfair on the horse and his fans to make him continue.’
TIGER ROLL QUITS AINTREE STAGE
Now do the decent thing! The owners Gigginstown announced yesterday that dual winner Tiger Roll will not attempt a third Grand National at Aintree on April 10.
I said after the 11-year-old trailed in 65-lengths last in the Boyne Hurdle that he should be retired and illustrated my case by revealing the demise of most National winners; they never recover from winning one never mind two.
Tiger Roll, who made his mark at Aintree after prepping both times in the cross-country at the Cheltenham Festival, was tested in the November version of that race. And pulled up.
He was sweating, dropped to last and struggled. In the Boyne, he looked much brighter but sadly was soon pushed along and tailed off. He’s telling us he’s had enough.
No longer the horse we knew; not the way we want to remember the greatest National hero since Red Rum and L’Escargot.
And, at a time when the spotlight is upon his trainer, I repeat that the horse should be retired. It would go greatly in Gordon Elliottt’s favour to show the courage to take it upon himself to suggest that the horse is not fit to perform and should be scratched from all engagements.
Gigginstown’s assertion that Tiger Roll will not run at Aintree because of an ‘unfair weight burden’ is in itself not fair play.
Not fair to make excuses for a genuine horse; not fair to challenge the sport’s reputation. And ultimately not fair to make the horse continue racing when he has clearly had enough.
HARRY HUNTS UP ANOTHER WINNER
⭕ 3.10 Wincanton With the Dan and Harry Skelton show scoring 13 times in the fortnight, Soyouthinksoagain is expected to return to winning form.
The cheekpieces are back on and the trip is right, like his October win at Stratford before fading at Ascot in a stronger race than this. So I think he can win again.
Golden Emblem has done well for stepping up in trip after wind surgery but has to give weight to the selection and Neil Mulholland’s yard has a moderate 7% strike rate at Wincanton.
Soyouthinksoagain was 3.8 in the BETDAQ BETTING EXCHANGE this morning with my other bets even money, except Alcala who is the hub of my Daq Multiples.
⭕ 3.35 Musselburgh With amateurs unable to ride, Harry Cobden made all on Cat Tiger in the Open Hunters’ Chase at Leicester yesterday.
This looks even easier for him, with Alcala well in on the terms of the race, between 6lb and 39lb ahead of the others.
A winner of five in a row on good ground in 2017, returned to that form in February and was narrowly beaten last month in the Scottish Foxhunters’ here, with Federici nearly 20 lengths behind.
Trip and ground also suit Looking Well but Nicky Richards has been missing strike lately, with returns of U2221F3 for first and second favourites.
BERLAIS BID OPEN FOR CHELTENHAM
⭕ 3.45 Wincanton The seniors weighing-room also turns out in force for a hunter-chase which has produced such as Big Fella Thanks and Pacha Du Polder.
Bryony Frost could seal the Cheltenham Festival bid of Caid Du Berlais, the only runner in this engaged there in the Open Hunters Chase.
Goes well fresh and these were the conditions when he won the 2019 Champion Hunters Chase at Punchestown.
⭕ 4.05 Musselburgh With Skatman (12.45), Alcala (3.35) and Get The Appeal (4.05), Paul Nicholls could land a bonnie treble seven hours journey from his stamping ground at Wincanton.
Get The Appeal, one-time firm-ground winner, made all here in February over 2m 6f, and should cope with Dora De Janeiro who is suddenly asked to step up a mile.
Henry’s Joy is 1-10 over hurdles, 1-13 when chasing, and we have to ask him which day it is! Mostly not a going day.
Order Of Thistle has won a maiden hurdle here but has struggled in handicaps and needs to step forward at the age of six.
