FABULOUS FOUR NAPS IN A ROW FOR DAQMAN: Daqman made it FOUR winning naps in a row yesterday, with yet another daily profit from his unique staking plan, thanks to Ledham (WON 13-8).

WON 8-11 ROARING LION (supernap, Saturday)
WON 11-8 EZIYRA (supernap, Sunday)
WON 13-8 VERDANT (nap, Monday)
WON 13-8 LEDHAM (nap, yesterday)

LEGER ABC DOUBLE: NOW FOR AYR GOLD CUP: The top two in Daqman’s ABC guide to Saturday’s Doncaster St Leger last week were Kew Gardens (WON 3-1) and Flag Of Honour (WON 2-1), who sidestepped Doncaster for the Irish version, and completed a Leger double on Sunday. Will the Daqman stats magic extend to Saturday’s Ayr Gold Cup?

‘COME ON MY SON’ HUGE GAMBLE

3.50 Ayr Saturday: AYR GOLD CUP

A All winners aged six and under since 1993
B All winners 8st 13lb or higher for the last 13 years
C Trained Andrew Balding, Richard Fahey, Kevin Ryan
D Eight out of 10 had won or placed over 6.5f or 7f
E No Ayr winner drawn 1-7 in last 12 years (to come)
X Trainer in form

ABCD Growl

Has been dropped 10lb since this time last year and has recently finished third in both the Stewards Cup and the Great St Wilfrid. Second to Brando in this race in 2016.

ABC George Bowen

Now 12lb higher than when second in the consolation Ayr Silver Cup of 2015, his rating boosted this year by firm-ground wins at York and Hamilton (Scottish Stewards Cup). Worse off with Growl who was two lengths in front of him when fifth in the Goodwood Stewards Cup.

ABDX Laugh A Minute

Big two-year-olds Sales race winner at this time last year (good to soft). Has kept Group company this term but not win again (class 3 conditions race) until gelded.

ABD Baron Bolt

Two wins out of three since July on speed tracks (Epsom and Goodwood) but is a winner over 7f. Claimer brings him into the picture.

ABD Cardsharp

Top-class two-year-old: third Middle Park, Gimcrack and Norfolk Stakes, winner of the July Stakes. Dropped out of the Pattern most of this term and generally struggled over 7f. Won 6f Listed (GF) and fourth Bunbury Cup.

ABD Eirene

Two soft-ground wins as a juvenile. Raced most of this term at Group level – third Nell Gwyn, second Sceptre Stakes – but lost her action in the Stewards Cup and won only a small-field conditions race on AW (7f).

ABD Golden Apollo

Three out of five last summer and found it tough on higher mark since. Neck second in the York Dash when rating dipped but handicapper probably in charge again now.

ABD Gunmetal

Three out of five on sound surface since switched to David Barron and third in Curragh Scurry (despite poor draw) before taking the Great St Wilfrid. Soft ground against him and racing off highest ever mark now

ABD Ice Age

Followed soft-ground hat-trick with third in this on heavy last year and defied weights rise twice on firm this season. Fourth Great St Wilfrid and led a long way when two lengths off the winner in Bold Lad Sprint at The Curragh only six days ago.

ABD Son Of Rest

Irish raider, runner-up for Fozzy Stack to Havana Grey in the Group-1 Flying Five at the weekend, is a huge midweek gamble from 40-1 to 6-1 and 7-1 favourite in places. Will have to carry 10lb more in future.

ABX Major Jumbo

Out of the first four only twice in 18 consecutive starts for top sprint stable and likes cut in the ground. Up 9lb this year. Twice third in big sprints at Ascot, one of them the Wokingham

AB Flying Pursuit

Back-to-back success in the York Dash and CD winner at Ayr who lives soft ground. Placed in the Coral Sprint last autumn off this kind of mark, after winning at Ripon 4lb lower.

AB Justanotherbottle

Winning form is all around 5f but third in the Portland last autumn and beaten only a short head in heartbreak finish for the Stewards Cup in August.

AB Spring Loaded

Portland winner and Coral Sprint runner-up last autumn. Back to form at Ascot in July before seventh in the Stewards Cup and fifth in the Great St Wilfrid; 7lb above last winning mark.

ADX Aces

One time Group performer, summer double over 6f and 7f, and always dangerous after one run back since a break. Just misses stats weight cut (races off 8st 12lb).

AD Get Knotted

7f and 1m winner dropping back in trip for the first time since fifth (on heavy) in this race last year. CD winner as a juvenile in 2014.

AD Rapid Applause

Excuses last twice, including when awkward start, gambled on under Frankie Dettori at Sandown to follow up back-to-back wins in the Spring.

BCD Kimberella

Fifth in this race in 2015 but no back number despite his age. Has won twice this year at Thirsk and a Listed at Chester (2lb worse off with neck second Major Jumbo).

BD Perfect Pasture

Only ninth in this last year but a tiger when on form on soft ground, as for his (Listed) Cammidge Trophy win in the Spring, and has won within a pound of this high mark.

B G Force

Just one win (Naas, heavy, in April) from 25 starts since 2014. Fourth in this race in 2016 when Brando beat Growl.

OPPOSE UNSAFE ODDS-ON SHOT

3.15 Sandown Stalls 1 and 4 have scored three times each in the decade, and the freshness of odds-on Wadilsafa (67 days off) is a worry from an outside draw.

He wouldn’t settle at Royal Ascot and made all at York. It’s a question of how much he uses himself up, particularly if he has trouble getting across to lead. I’ll oppose him with one each from Highclere Thoroughbreds and Cheveley Park Stud looking for black type here.

Red Starlight has not yet been given anything classy to do but she settled in nicely at Lingfield and went clear in the final furlong. Stable won this last year with a 14-1 shot, and ‘Red’ is 13.0 on BETDAQ this morning.

Archetype won twice at Sandown last season and was also able to tuck in and shadow the leaders when required. Encouraging last time and could bounce back at 8.0 with De Sousa booked.

SOVEREIGN FOR A ROYAL ROMP

3.00 Yarmouth My man in the long grass is keen on last year’s winning stable with The Queen’s Kingman colt, Sovereign Grant, prepping at around even money for a crack at the Dewhurst after a decent debut at Sandown. ‘Could be anything,’ as they say.

LIGHTNING FROM A LOW STALL

3.35 Yarmouth A low draw usually lands this Listed fillies, with three of the last four winners from gates 1 and 2, and eight of the 10 in the decade coming out of the first five stalls.

Chain Of Daisies is well drawn to take them along but is twice the age of 80% of winners.

Roger Varian has won it twice in four seasons, and clearly has plans to do so again, with Andrea Atzeni on Sheikha Reika (stall 2) and David Egan on Rasima.

Scottish Jig (in 4) was giving her weight when finishing in front of Sheikha Reika at Ascot on the last day (firm); they now meet at levels, both well drawn.

But 15.0 BETDAQ outsider Dancing Brave Bear and the UAE 1,000 Guineas winner, Winter Lightning (2.56 offers; stall 3), strong-finishing third over a mile to Veracious on the last day, may have too much class for this field.

Runner-up in the Musidora at York in the Spring, ‘Dancing’ disappointed in the Ribblesdale at Royal Ascot but has always needed more time.
