13.0 BULL’S-EYE BET OPENS YORK: Daqman steers clear of the John Gosden hot-pots trialing at York today, and banks on the value of a Newton Abbot jumper not getting the credit he deserves. But Daqman has a ‘hidden horse’ on the Knavesmire, which BETDAQ layers are offering at 13.0 for a bull’s-eye bet.

⭕ 1.50 York This class-2 1m 4f handicap is called ‘Race To The Ebor’. Not many do, and none have been good enough when they get there. In the last decade, three winners of this lined up for the Ebor and finished 8th, 18th and 20th.
Sir Michael Stoute (two), Team Johnston, Charlie Appleby and William Haggas have won today’s race before and saddle contenders this afternoon.
That long looping left-hand Knavesmire bend seems to squeeze out low-drawn horses and throw the high-drawn out too wide. Best starting position it seems is within the stalls group at least four or five horses from the inner in 5, 6, 7 and 9, which has turned out seven of the last nine winners.
That’s where you’ll find three of our usual suspects: Appleby (Global Storm out of 5), Haggas with Gaassee (from 7) and Stoute (Just Fine 8).
Global Storm, 10th in last year’s Ebor, lacks the finishing touch, as suggested by eight seconds and thirds, with two out of three English wins on soft ground. Badly handicapped on last year’s form with Zabeel Champion, and a big drifter this morning. Just Fine, having his first run back, is also easy to back.
Gaassee has never raced in senior company above class 4, and only once on turf, but has a similar profile to last year’s winner of this for Yorkshire-born Haggas, who likes to win here and is currently striking at 36%.
Forza Orta (out of the one stall) is underrated: second last year to a subsequent Listed winner now racing off 103, third at Thirsk last month to a Newmarket winner rated 95.
Forza Orta – never out of the first three in eight starts – won at Hamilton on May Day, sure be upgraded from his 78 mark. In fact, all the handicapper can do at this stage is give him a 5lb penalty.

HIDDEN HORSE 13.0 ON BETDAQ
⭕ 2.25 York The 22 runners over this 6f are likely to split into two or three groups: far side, stands side and down the middle.
So it is that you have winners from stalls 3 and 5 (twice), 8 and 11, and 15 (twice), 18 and 20.
Last year’s first, fourth and fifth, Mr Lupton (out of gate 15 that day), Woven from the one stall and Bielsa (10) are now in 11, 22 and 12, with Bielsa the one worst off at the weights.
Six of the last seven winners have carried between 8st 5lb and 8st 13lb, mostly aged four and five, and Bergerac – a winner here in September – should go well if the rain stays away.
But there’s a hidden horse in CD-winner Aberama Gold (stall 7, had wind op), dropped a stone since he was eighth in this race last year, and with Silvestre De Sousa booked by a stable in form with five winners in May. BETDAQ 13.0.
⭕ 3.00 York Four-year-olds have won the last five of this 6f Group 2. Ryan Moore won the Commonwealth Cup Trial last Spring on Rohaan (William Buick today) but switches to Garrus, who is blinkered first time.
Garrus and Moore won a Listed at this meeting in 2019 and the next time he rode the grey gelding it’s three years later at the Craven meeting last month when just failing to land the Abernant (Group 3), giving 3lb to the winner. Two Abernant runners have won this race before.

THE BIG DAY FOR GOSDEN PLANS
⭕ 3.35 York (Musidora Stakes) Aidan O’Brien last year won this 3yo fillies’ trial at 14-1 with his subsequent Oaks winner, Snowfall, and now saddles The Algarve.
That’s a worry for Team Gosden, which has won the Musidora four times in the decade, three times in a row with odds-on shots, and has Emily Upjohn already sharing Oaks favouritism with Tuesday, the 1,000 Guineas third, also trained by O’Brien.
⭕ 4.10 York It’s a big day for the Gosden’s with their St James’s Palace entry, Samburu, also a short price but eased a bit this morning under pressure from The Cookstown Cafu and Mojomaker, who ran well here in a big Sales race, and has had wind surgery; William Buick booked.

⭕ 2.05 Newton Abbot Diligent or what! In the last year, Nigel Hawke’s nine–year-old has improved 46lb, chases and hurdles, with his form figures a super-consistent 11112131212, including two out of two at Newton Abbot.
His opponents show just one win from a combined 24 starts, yet Diligent was odds against this morning: 3.3 on BETDAQ.
⭕ 3.15 Gowran Park Last year’s winner of this, Celtic Crown, has been lucky with the draw and with the forecast showers. Bookies’ opening shows of 16-1 were crunched into 9-1 last mare and the mare’s best price was 8.4 on BETDAQ this morning.
