David Moyes’s reign as the Manchester United Manager has come to an abrupt halt this morning after it was announced that he had left the club after only 10 months in charge.

Moyes was relieved of his duties shortly after 8.00am this morning after a meeting with the Executive Vice-Chairman, Ed Woodward at the club’s training grounds.

Ryan Giggs is set to take-over as Caretaker Manager as a Player/Coach in the interim.

After keeping silent yesterday amid reports that Moyes’s term was coming to an end before the end of the season, United released a short statement merely stating that ‘David Moyes had left the Club’ while they continued by saying ‘’ The Club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.’’

This season has been one to forget for Manchester United as they currently lie in 7th place in the league and struggling to gain qualification into Europe for next season, missing out on Champions League football for the first time since 1995.

Despite reaching the last eight in this year’s Champions League, Moyes, 50, has had nothing short of a torrid time as the head of Manchester United. He has received wide spread criticism from United fans while the players even voiced their opinions via Twitter on several occasions. The final nail was driven into the coffin with a 2-0 defeat to Everton last weekend.

It is estimated that Moyes will receive approximately £20m in a redundancy package from the Club.
