It’s real shame that the weather claimed Newbury’s stunning card but it’s great to see the authorities re-arrange it for Friday. The Cheltenham Festival looms large on the horizon and we should get a few more clues if Leopardstown’s Hennessy goes ahead on Sunday.

My main ‘Festival Fancies’ at this stage are Montbazon in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and Noble Prince in the Ryanair.

Manchester United (1.92 on Betdaq) have the chance to go top of the table for 24 hours at least this weekend as they play in the big game of the weekend on Sky Sports against Liverpool (4.6) as Manchester City have to wait to play until Super Sunday. I shall be presenting the show live from Villa Park from 1pm on Sky Sports HD1. City (1.72) love playing against Villa (5.6) as they have won more points (53) and scored more goals (50) against them than they have against any other side. City have won four of the last five meetings in all competitions and won 12 of the last 18 Premier League clashes.

Before that game we have the crucial match at the bottom of the league – Wolves (2.54 on Betdaq) against West Brom (3). West Brom won 2-0 at The Hawthorns in October with goals from Chris Brunt and Peter Odemwingie but haven’t won in the top flight at Molineux since May 1982 when Paul McCartney and Stevie Wonder were number one in the charts with Ebony And Ivory.

I fancy Bolton to beat Wigan at 2.03. Bolton easily won the reverse fixture 3-1 in October and could even afford Kevin Davies to miss a penalty. Bolton are unbeaten in the last eight meetings in all competitions, winning the last two and conceding just three goals. Owen Coyle’s side seem to have turned a corner and have played well in recent weeks, including a win against Liverpool and a draw against Arsenal in their last two games at the Reebok. Wigan on the other hand have picked up just one point from their last five Premier League games and have conceded 13 goals in their last four away. I’m surprised Bolton aren’t odds on and think they’re a great bet at 2.03 on the Daq.

In the Six Nations England (inspired by a certain G.Neville!) did well to beat Scotland yet took some stick in places. I was encouraged by the team’s unity and the captain, Chris Robshaw, definitely has something about him. Next England go to Rome on Saturday and I expect them to win by more than 7.5pts at 1.94 on Betdaq. Italy can match England for 60 minutes up front but their backs look far inferior.

The world and its wife seem to want to get with Wales this weekend but I want go against the crowd and fancy Scotland to run them close. This is a talented Scotland side that just don’t seem to be able to get over the winning line and will be smarting from somehow letting England off the hook last weekend. They have little to lose this time around and look a great bet to get within 12.5pts of Wales at 1.95 on Betdaq.
