EFL CUP SEMI-FINAL: We preview the EFL Cup semi-final second leg on Thursday between HULL v MAN U with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
HULL V MANCHESTER UNITED
7.45pm This is a massive game for Hull, they might have bigger games towards the end of the season to stay in the Premier League, but this is their chance for glory and a place in the EFL Cup final against Southampton after they beat Liverpool 1-0 again last night.
The problem for Hull though is they obviously trail United 2-0 from the last leg, and with the way they have been playing, it looks nigh on impossible for them to overturn that. From a betting point of view, it’s interesting to think about what tactics Hull will employ, can they attack from the start? Do they defend until the last 20 minutes and hope for two late goals? What will be the best tactics for them, one wonders.
It’s hard to see them attacking from the start, indeed it is more likely that United will look to start on the front foot to put the tie to bed. But with a 2-0 lead, they don’t need to be rushing forward either, so it’s highly possible we’ll have a quiet start to this one.
The odds at the time of writing currently stand at; Hull 8.0, United 1.51 and the draw is 4.6 – very similar odds to the ones we seen in the other semi-final last night, just with the home and away difference, United will be hoping for a better result!
With United not needing to win, the 1.51 looks a shade short to fully commit to. Granted that given the situation, they are likely to see more gaps in the Hull defense as the game goes on. We can’t see Hull going too gun-ho from the start though, and with that in mind we’re going to look for some value in the goals markets.
0-0 at full-time is around 17.0, which might be big for trade, although a late goal seems very likely. Under 2.5 goals is 2.16, while if you fancy overs that’s 1.83. Under 2.5 goals is appealing at 2.16, especially as we landed similar odds last night. However, we’re going to take a chance here though in the HT/FT market, we see a fairly quiet start, and United taking advantage in the second half as Hull have to go for it. The Draw/United result is trading 4.8 and that looks big to us.
