EFL CUP QUARTER FINALS: We preview Wednesday’s EFL Cup games between CHELSEA v BOURNEMOUTH and BRISTOL CITY v MAN U with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
CHELSEA V BOURNEMOUTH
7.45pm Bournemouth will be looking for a change in fortunes here after being thrashed at the weekend by Liverpool. Many football fans always talk about “parking the bus” and “boring football” however, what Bournemouth did at the weekend against Liverpool was terrible tactically. Playing open football against the top side in the league is just going to get you beaten – you have to defend and hopefully catch them on the break.
If they play like that again tonight, Chelsea will easily beat them. Chelsea have an excellent record at home too, and are currently trading 1.88 -1.5 goals which makes appeal. Over 2.5 goals at is of interest too given the open nature of Bournemouth, however it’s only trading 1.65 at the moment. We feel the value is with Chelsea on the handicap here, and expect them to win easily.

BRISTOL CITY V MANCHESTER UNITED
8pm When the draw was made, everyone said United got an easy draw! That might be the case, however Bristol City are in excellent form and with home advantage, they’re going to make it tough for United. United laboured to wins against Bournemouth and West Brom without Pogba – he really makes such a massive difference to the team. The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Bristol City 8.6, Manchester United 1.43 and the draw is 5.3.
United definitely feel a little short at 1.43, however they should win and having Pogba back is a massive boost. Bristol can no doubt keep things tight with home advantage, and under 2.5 goals is definitely of interest at 2.44 which looks pretty big. However, over 2.5 goals would have collected in all five of Bristol’s previous games – the thing about that is though, will they score against this solid United defence? We could have a cagey start to the game here, and we like unders from a value point of view at 2.44.
