This game takes on more importance than recent meetings with a win for Real Madrid sending them nine points clear at the top of La Liga and surely going a long way to winning the league, even this early in the season.
Real Madrid are unbeaten in their last 32 games in all competitions, so it will take a huge effort from Barcelona to end that unbeaten run, despite having home advantage here. Barcelona appear to be suffering a dip in form lately – they’ve dropped points in their last two games, drawing 1-1 against Malaga and Sociedad. They were possibly lucky to draw against Sociedad too, and Neymar and Suarez haven’t been scoring lately, Neymar is without a goal in his last seven league games.
It’s highly possible that El Clasico will push Barcelona into life and we could see the return of the beautiful football we are used to seeing from them, however on recent form, the 1.9 on them looks short. Ronaldo has been in superb form recently, scoring hat-tricks for fun and he’s also scored in nine of his last ten visits to the Nou Camp. We don’t see many reasons to back the home team here and while Real Madrid are tempting at 4.1, we marginally prefer the Barcelona lay 1.9 to have the draw on side.
