Real Madrid sit two points behind Barcelona in the La Liga table, and an away win here for Barcelona would surely put the title close to being decided. Neither side won in the Champions League during the week, and this is the biggest El Clasico is in a while.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Real Madrid 2.26, Barcelona 3.25 and the draw is 3.7. Barcelona are in a much better position in the Champions League compared to Real Madrid. They drew 1-1 away from home, while Real lost here against City. A loss here and a failure to come back in Manchester would see the season basically over for Real – the pressure is on! Of course they could come back from five points down in La Liga, but it’s unlikely given how much both sides dominate.
Just like the La Liga table, there hasn’t been much between the sides this season. However, we are very surprised to see Real as short as 2.26 here. Even with home advantage, we fully expect Barcelona to make the game closer than odds of 2.26 suggest on a home win. From a betting point of view, it’s hard to get past the Real lay at 2.26 – it offers huge value! Of course we expect goals in El Clasico – don’t we always. But for our best bet we’re not going to look past the obvious and we’re very happy to lay Real at the odds.
