EMMET RYAN SEES BETTER FORTUNE FOR MORINHO: The Special One suffered a big shock in Europe on Wednesday but Tipster HQ sees massive value for Jose Mourinho and Chelsea this weekend.
Wednesday was a rough night for Chelsea. Twice, the Blues took the lead against Paris St Germain. Twice the plucky French billionaire backed underdogs used all of their star-studded grit to force their way back against the billionaire back star-studded EPL side. It was a real David and Goliath story, only where David is blinged out to the nines and has an Apache helicopter instead of a slingshot. PSG’s away goals win has led to a massive over-reaction from the market and that gives punters an opportunity to strike.
Southampton have been one of the more enjoyable stories this season and this corner has, rightly, urged punters to jump on the under-valued Saints more often than I am bothered counting. Recent weeks however have been far from kind to Southampton and they are becoming outsiders in the race for the Champions League spots. Chelsea have a title to win and a huge chip on their shoulder. Even the outright seems to under-rate them but I expect this to be a game where the Special One demands his charges take command from the outset. Bet on Chelsea/Chelsea at 2.54 on the Half-time/Full-time.
It was touch and go for a while but Everton eventually delivered against Dynamo Kiev on Thursday night and now they have a terribly short rest before returning to EPL action on Sunday against Newcastle. With the second leg of that Europa League game just four days after this one, there’s plenty of reason to be wary of the line-up deployed by Roberton Martinez for this one. The Toffees aren’t completely out of the woods when it comes to the relegation picture but Martinez knows he has breathing room to work with. The Europa League offers a real shot at Champions League football. As long as matters don’t get too hairy in the EPL, Europe is the priority. Throw in an awfully tasty price on the visitors and I have to back the upset. Take Newcastle to win at 4.8.
Finally, I’ve got two words for you. Harry Kane. The past few weeks have seen Manchester United typically get results when relying excessively on David de Gea but the cracks are getting wider. With Spurs sensing a shot at the Champions League, this smells like the weekend it all starts to fall apart for Louis van Gaal. I’m going for the big upset once more. Bet on Spurs at 4.3 to win in Old Trafford.
