EURO 2016 MONDAY: Three more matches today and first up it’s the defending champions Spain taking on the Czech Republic. The 5pm game is Republic Of Ireland v Sweden and Belgium v Italy finishes the day at 8pm.
Spain v Czech Republic 2-00
Reigning Champions Spain get their Euro 2016 campaign underway against the Czech Republic at 2-00 in Toulouse. At the time of writing they are currently priced around the 1.55 mark and while we expected them to win, we’re going to look elsewhere for a bit of value.
What stands out from the Czech Republic’s qualifying campaign is how many goals they conceded, they actually conceded the most goals of any team that qualified, and eight of their ten games had over 2.5 goals – for that reason over 2.5 goals certainly appeals at 2.1 or bigger however Spain’s defensive record is very solid and for that reason we are going to side with Spain -1 on the Asian handicap at around 1.9. A Spain clean sheet is also worthy of interest around the 2.0 mark.
BETDAQ best bet:
Spain to beat Czech Republic -1 Asian Handicap at 1.9.
Some Spain v Czech Republic facts:
- Spain are unbeaten in their last 12 European Championship games, the longest run in the history of the tournament.
- It has been over 500 minutes since Spain last conceded at the European Championships.
- Czech Republic conceded the most goals in qualifying from any team that qualified (14).
- Czech Republic have never beaten Spain, and have lost the last three matches.

Republic Of Ireland v Sweden 5-00
There is an argument for saying that Ireland became somewhat a ‘bogey” team for Sweden, failing to score against them in three of the last four meetings – a surprising stat given that Sweden should be above Ireland’s level, they did beat Ireland 2-1 the last time they met, however Ireland won 3-0 and 2-0 nil, along with a 0-0 draw before that game. And while you’d think Sweden should be too good, it’s hard to fully commit to backing Sweden at around 2.36.
Ireland have also kept Zlatan from finding the back of the net in all three games that he’s faced the boys in green. You can lay him to score anytime at around the 2.7 mark which could be a shade of value. Ireland could set up quite negatively, and under 2.5 goals is trading around 1.55 mark, but that seems too short to back. It’s quite hard to be confident here on anything in the 90 minutes so our selection is to lay Zlatan to score at 2.7.
BETDAQ best bet:
Lay Zlatan Ibrahimovic to score at 2.7.
Some Republic Of Ireland v Sweden facts:
- Sweden have managed just three wins in their last 14 European Championship games.
- Ireland are without a win in their last five games at European Championships.
- Zlatan Ibrahimovic has never scored against Ireland.
- This is martin O’Neill’s first major tournament as an International manager.
- Ireland have never scored more than one goal in a European Championship game.

Belgium v Italy 8-00
A brilliant clash to cap off what is an exciting day at Euro 2016. Italy qualified for Euro 2016 as one of the teams that went unbeaten, however Belgium scored an impressive 24 goals in their group – the last five meetings between the sides have seen a total of 18 goals – over 2.5 goals is priced around the 2.74 which seems a shade big and it might pay to back Both Team To Score instead at around 2.2.
Italy have a strong record at the European Championships in the Group stages, they’ve lost just two of their 21 European Championship games at this stage – Belgium are quite a young side, and they will have to improve on their recent outings at the Euros, losing five of their last seven – undoubtedly this is their best side though but we still expect Italy to put up a good fight here and we think Italy draw no bet at 2.32 is the bet.
BETDAQ best bet:
Italy Draw-No-Bet to beat Belgium at 2.32.
Some Belgium v Italy facts:
- Italy have drawn more European Championship games than any other side in history.
- Belgium had the younger average age from any team that qualified for Euro 2016.
- Belgium have lost five of their last seven European Championship games.
- Italy have lost just twice in their last 21 European Championship Group games.
