EURO 2020 QUALIFIERS: We preview Tuesday’s game between REPUBLIC OF IRELAND v GEORGIA with a recommended BETDAQ bet.

7.45pm After boring the nation to tears on Saturday evening, Ireland are back in action as they host Georgia on Tuesday night. The 1-0 win over Gibraltar on Saturday raised more questions than answers and it wasn’t the start that Mick McCarthy would have been hoping for. The reality is that Ireland just don’t have the quality needed to score a hat full of goals and that is a massive issue. They’ve only scored once in their last five games and there’s no doubt that Georgia will come to Dublin to defend.
Ireland are odds on favourites at the time of writing with the match odds currently trading; Republic Of Ireland 1.7, Georgia 6.8 and the draw is 3.7. Ireland look exceptionally short at 1.7 – their lack of goals isn’t going to change overnight and you wouldn’t class Mick McCarthy’s style as attacking either. Georgia performed very well in the Nations League and gained promotion meaning that both sides are at League C.
Georgia only conceded twice in six matches at the Nations League, and although those games came against Kazakhstan, Latvia and Andorra it shows how solid they are at the back. We expect their tactics will be to stop Ireland as much as they can and those tactics never suit this Irish side – they simply can’t create enough to break down the stubborn teams. That’s probably way they perform better away from home, because teams open up more.
We can’t get away from the Ireland lay here at 1.7. It looks the best value lay of the entire round of these International fixtures. This could be a very dull affair as Georgia sit behind the ball and Ireland attempt to break them down. We feel Ireland should be closer to 2.0 than 1.7 and we’re very happy to lay them at these odds.
