8.05pm Everton got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start here on Saturday against Stoke, and now look to progress past Hajduk Split and get into the Group stages of the Europa League.
Everton have already beaten FK Ruzomberok in the last round of this competition, however much like Saturday, they did look laboured at times – especially in front of goal. The loss of Lukaku will obviously have a big impact on them, and it may take a while for Koeman to find a system that works with all the new arrivals. The markets are expecting an Everton win nonetheless, with the match odds at the time of writing currently trading; Everton 1.37, Hajduk Split 12.0 and the draw is 5.3.
Hajduk Split are a little further on in their season than Everton, and should definitely have a fitness edge. They’ve played five league games and four Europa League games thus far, only losing once. The way Everton struggled to break down Stoke at the weekend will make the 1.37 an appealing lay for many here, however the bet we like is under 2.5 goals at 1.88.
We feel that Hajduk Split will come here to defend, and with Everton struggling to break down sides in their games so this season, unders certainly looks the value. This should be a step up from FK Ruzomberok in the last round, and they could only manage two goals over the two legs with them. Stoke are expected to struggle by many people this season too, and Everton did look lacking in front of goal against them at the weekend – so under 2.5 goals looks too big at 1.88 – especially with the new Everton signings still settling in.
