EUROPA LEAGUE SEMI FINALS: We look ahead to tonight’s two semi-finals in the Europa League between Villarreal v Liverpool and Shakhtar Donetsk v Sevilla. Both matches kick off at 8.05pm.
Villarreal v Liverpool 8-05
This is the first meeting between the sides in Europe. Jurgen Klopp’s side face the tough task of having to go to the El Madrigal where Villarreal have won every Europa League game this season, but after their dramatic late win against Borussia Dortmund, who’s to say they can’t do it?
Klopp is currently unbeaten in Europe as Liverpool manager and that’s a record he’ll want to keep for as long as possibly obviously, so far he has won five and drawn five. Villarreal have been doing well in La Liga thus far this season and currently sit fourth in the table, but sit 20 points behind third placed Real Madrid and they haven’t won in their last three, losing two and drawing their last game 0-0 against Sociedad.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have been in decent form lately and have scored 16 goals in their last five games in all competitions, however tonight might be more about defending, and as we seen in the Champions League this week – sides can be quite cagey in the first legs when we get to this stage of tournaments, and possibly a draw is the best value bet here at 3.3. Under 2.5 goals is also trading around the 1.7 mark if you fancy a quiet game.

Shakhtar Donetsk v Sevilla 8-05
Shakhtar face the tough task of trying to stop reigning Europa League Champions Sevilla reach their third consecutive final and it’s another very open betting market with Shakhtar currently 2.64, the draw 3.45 and Sevilla 3.0.
While Sevilla may appear big at the first look at the odds, their away form in the Europa League has been patchy lately, they have failed to score in two of their last three away games – their strength has mainly been at home, where they have won 11 of the last 12. With that in mind, they could be set up tonight to defend and 0-0 at full-time is currently trading around the 12.5 mark and could be worthy of a bet.
While under 2.5 is trading around the 1.9 mark and that looks decent value too.
