CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: We preview Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg game between ATLETICO MADRID v ARSENAL.
8.05pm What a big night for Arsenal football club. It’s pretty much accepted now that they aren’t good enough to win a Premier League or Champions League – and here they are one game away from a Europa League final spot in Arsene Wenger’s last season at the club. It would be a fitting way to end Wenger’s time, however they have it all to do tonight.
The fact that Arsenal couldn’t beat Atletico last week when they had a man advantage for most of the game is very worrying going into tonight’s game. Arsenal’s away form has been dreadful this season too; although they have been better away from home in Europe compared to in the Premier League.
The markets are expecting Atletico to qualify easily, with the odds at the time of writing; Atletico Madrid 1.33 and Arsenal 3.9. While in the 90 minutes match odds market; Atletico are 1.8, Arsenal are 5.5 and the draw is 3.8. Having seen the first leg, Atletico look big at 1.8 – they have an excellent record at home and their defensive record is extremely impressive.
As we noted at the weekend; Arsenal are the only side in the top five leagues in England who have yet to record a point away from home in 2018. That’s a damning stat and facing a side like Atletico away from home is a huge task. Atletico look at least ten ticks too big here and we’re very happy to back them at 1.8.
