EUROPA LEAGUE THURSDAY: We preview Thursday’s Europa League games between ESPANYOL v WOLVES, ARSENAL v OLYMPIAKOS, CELTIC v FC COPENHAGEN and MANCHESTER UNITED v CLUB BRUGGE all with a recommended BETDAQ bet.
ESPANYOL V WOLVES
5.55pm It’s crunch time in the Last 32 of the Europa League and we have a brilliant night ahead. We start our preview with a side not under pressure however as Wolves travel to Espanyol with a four goal lead. The first leg couldn’t have gone any better for Wolves and barring any amazing scenes from Espanyol, tonight should be plain sailing for the Premier League side. They will still need to focus for 90 minutes though and get the job done.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Espanyol 3.1, Wolves 2.56 and the draw is 3.25. Wolves are in the hunt for a Europa League spot in the Premier League as it’s very close between 5th and 8th, but we shouldn’t see any changes to the first XI here. It’s surely not justified given allowing for the four goal lead. Winning away will be tougher but the 2.56 is too appealing to turn down. As we seen in the first leg, Wolves are the better side here and with Espanyol having to attack, Wolves can pick them off.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Wolves to beat Espanyol at 2.56.

ARSENAL V OLYMPIAKOS
8pm Arsenal surprise many punters when winning away to Olympiakos and now that they have home advantage, they can finish the job. Olympiakos had been involved in some high scoring Champions League Group games but Arsenal did a very good job at stopping them from scoring. It was a tough game and Arsenal were able to grind it out. We’ve seen a lot of that from Arsenal in this competition recently, perhaps they can improve in those tough situations in the Premier League under Arteta this season.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Arsenal 1.6, Olympiakos 6.8 and the draw is 4.3. Olympiakos lost all three of their away Champions League Group games. In fairness, it’s not a surprise that they lost against Spurs and Bayern Munich but the 3-1 loss to Red Star Belgrade is possibly a sign that they won’t do well here. Arsenal are a different animal at home and they have the class to beat this Olympiakos side. At 1.6 they are too big to ignore and we have to back those odds.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Arsenal to beat Olympiakos at 1.6.

CELTIC V FC COPENHAGEN
8pm It’s another big European night for Celtic and Celtic Park will be rocking. Celtic fans would have taken a score draw away from home in the first leg, and now they should be confident of getting the job done with home advantage. Based on the first leg, Celtic should really be getting through here. Anything bar qualification will be a major slip up and the odds reflect that.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Celtic 1.46, FC Copenhagen 8.8 and the draw is 4.6. Copenhagen did manage two draws and a win in their three away group games in this competition, however their Group was very weak. Celtic are always better at home compared to away, and on balance Celtic should have won the first leg. However at 1.46 they are just a little too short for us and we can see an open game here with Copenhagen needing to score. Over 2.5 goals looks too big at 2.16 and we’re happy to back that.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Over 2.5 goals at 2.16.

MANCHESTER UNITED V CLUB BRUGGE
8pm Manchester United are another side to drew 1-1 away from home in the first leg, and now will be hoping to finish the job in Old Trafford. It was nice to see them put three goals past Watford here at the weekend as they had failed to score in their two home before that. They are definitely improving under Solskjaer but perhaps it’s just not as quickly as the fans would like it. They have a long road ahead, just look at how long it took Liverpool to win a title again.
The match odds at the time of writing currently trade; Manchester United 1.52, Club Brugge 8.6 and the draw is 4.4. Club Brugge never really stood a chance in the Champions League in a group with Real Madrid and PSG. They managed to draw away with Real Madrid and PSG could only score once against them. They need to score tonight, and that should open the game up. But we can see a very tight game here and under 2.5 goals makes a lot of appeal at 1.8. It might be another nervous night ahead at Old Trafford.
BETDAQ BEST BET:
Under 2.5 goals at 1.8.
